The event will take place over three days and launch a year of celebrations across the UK and the world to mark the document's 800th anniversary. Magna Carta, meaning Great Charter, was agreed at Runnymede, Surrey in 1215. The document is seen as the cornerstone of Britain's constitution, outlining a set of basic rights.
That's fucking cool.
... for a book burning
The Very Reverend Philip Buckler, Dean of Lincoln, said bringing together all four copies would be of "national significance" and would mark a "pivotal point" in the anniversary year.
The Very Reverend? That makes it sound like a weird adjective. On a scale of one to Reverend, he's very reverend.

I dont know a whole lot about history, so how did the document get separated in the first place? *edit* Or maybe im just being stupid and didnt realize what "copies" meant.
We here in Australia have a copy in Parliament House. I think what they mean to say is surviving copies in Britain
As with the copy in the US archives, that one is from 1297. These are the only 4 remaining copies of the original 1215 document
I've always loved that such an important document came about not because of the brilliance or ruling capability of John Plantagenet, but because his disloyal earls and barons basically bullied him into signing it.
Wow, this just came out like last week. Did Jay only make a few or was it that bad and everyone destroyed their copies or something?

When the four copies touch, will they combine to form the Super Carta?
