This is a thread dedicated toVexillology, Vexillology is the scientific study of the history, symbolism and usage of flags or, by extension, any interest in flags in general. The word is a synthesis of the Latin word vexillum ("flag") and the Greek suffix -logia ("study.") The constitution of the International Federation of Vexillological Associations (known by its French acronym, FIAV) formally defines vexillology as "the creation and development of a body of knowledge about flags of all types, their forms and functions, and of scientific theories and principles based on that knowledge."
A person who studies flags is a vexillologist; vexillography is the art of designing flags; one who does so is a vexillographer; an admirer of flags is a vexillophile.

Where'd you get that and Independent Catalunya flags from?
The only flag I own is the transgender flag, and that's not too visually spectacular. Perfect amount of stripes to make into nail polish though

I got the estreleira from a local shop in galicia, and about the Catalan flags... I live in Catalonia so I just walked to a Chinese shop and got one.
Here's a bunch of 20th century flags:

This would make an excellent wall decoration if it existed in better quality, imo. As a bonus you can find which countries and flags still exist. There are probably some mistakes there, though.
For example, the Greek National Flag ought to have been this:
[img_thumb]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/53/State_Flag_of_Greece_%281833-1858%29.svg/320px-State_Flag_of_Greece_%281833-1858%29.svg.png[/img_thumb]
Dunno where that weird Nordic Cross came from.

A small correctrion, the original spanish rojigualda that lasted until 1931 (not including the first republic, where they simply removed the crown from the coat of arms but they had no time to make a new official flag since the first republic only lasted 10 months) had the coat of arms to the left:

Does anyone know where I can find some Seven Years War-era Prussian infantry flags? As featured in the painting of Zorndorf.

I've been doing some research on flags in the medieval period recently. I'm amazed anyone knew what was going on, it must have looked like a parade on the battlefield with every knight having their own banner, standard, and pennon, and then everyone in a particular nobleman's retinue wearing his colours and badges, and probably carrying his standard as well. Makes you wonder why it took so long for uniforms to become a thing.
