Sales for the first nine months of the year are down nearly 25 percent, from €1.08 billion ($1.47 billion) to €813 million ($1.11 billion). "Over the short term, the high quality of our titles - which is unanimously recognized by gamers - has enabled us to achieve our third-quarter sales target depite the transition period currently affecting the market," Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said in a statement. "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag performed particularly well, reinforcing the franchise's long-term potential and therefore its upcoming iteration."
Source: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/132136-Ubisoft-Sales-Down-35-Percent
It's just a transition period! Our games totally aren't half-assed
It's just a transition period! Our games totally aren't half-assed
The only two Ubisoft games I've played in the past year were Blood Dragon and Assassins Creed Black Flag. I enjoyed both.
Ubisoft aint bad man why they gotta get fucked like this.
It's just a transition period! Our games totally aren't half-assed
Because AC4 was half-assed and completely phoned in. Oh wait.
Seems like AC4 is the only noteable game they have put out in 2013.
Probably will rise when Watch Dogs releases?
Anyone rating this winner is an idiot. When sales are down, the development teams get downsized, and people that actually enjoy making games lose their jobs.
Meanwhile Nintendo is rubbing its hands with vengeful glee.
Seems like AC4 is the only noteable game they have put out in 2013.
Splinter Cell Blacklist was good.
Probably will rise when Watch Dogs releases?
If they had released Watch Dogs when planned, it would have helped a lot. This year should be a cracker for Ubisoft with Watch Dogs, The Division, The Crew, and possibly a new Far Cry and Assassins Creed.
The only two Ubisoft games I've played in the past year were Blood Dragon and Assassins Creed Black Flag. I enjoyed both.
They have Division and Watch Dogs as well, they're going to have a good year based on those two titles alone. They're both perfect formulas for extremely successful games, on the scale of GTA5. All they have to do is just not do anything stupid surrounding them, like Microtransactions or some weird DRM
Probably will rise when Watch Dogs releases?
Or sink. Really sounds like those type of games that look good on trailers and images but play like shit.
Anyone rating this winner is an idiot. When sales are down, the development teams get downsized, and people that actually enjoy making games lose their jobs.
If the games they produce aren't very good then maybe either the developers aren't very good or the management isn't very good and in either case, the developers leaving the studio is a good thing.
If the games they produce aren't very good then maybe either the developers aren't very good or the management isn't very good and in either case, the developers leaving the studio is a good thing.
the developers are doing their part, it usually is the fault of management it simply comes down to the people making the bigger, broader decisions with the projects and the company itself that turn games with great potential into trainwrecks. it's especially true when ridiculously demanding deadlines are set
Or sink. Really sounds like those type of games that look good on trailers and images but play like shit.
This so much, it's like all the Assassins Creed previews. The games looked good in trailers and extremely innovative and diverse, but once you've played it it was rather dull and lacking. Watch Dogs won't be that great, visuals aren't everything.
It's probably because of AC3 putting a lot of people off AC4.
Damn pirates!
Obviously piracy, this is what happens when you give up always-on DRM!
Anyone rating this winner is an idiot. When sales are down, the development teams get downsized, and people that actually enjoy making games lose their jobs.
but this company that my friend said i shouldn't like isn't doing good, that means i should be happy right??
People are starting to realize Ubisoft are releasing the same Assassins Creed game over and over again.
Meanwhile Nintendo is rubbing its hands with vengeful glee.
"Yeah, you go ahead and delay our versions. Go on, stick with those two schlubs. See what happens."
Noooo I need my Anno sequel. 2070 was the shit Just get rid of Uplay you slack cunts no one wants it.
Problem with Ubisoft is that it systematically takes them a few tries before actually releasing a genuinely good game. First assassin's creed game was way too flawed, AC2 fixed everything. AC3 was terrible, AC4 fixed everything again. Splinter Cell Conviction was full of shitty design decisions, a lot of which were fixed in Black List. Far Cry 3 had a lot of issues, Blood Dragon fixed a lot of them. Rayman Origins and Legends are insanely similar. Not to mention a lot of their games even through different licenses share way too many similarities. You can find the exact same Open World framework in Assassin's Creed and Far Cry 3 with the necessity to reach specific areas to unveil the map and the ability to buy more maps to reveal collectibles. I bet your ass Watch_Dogs is going to have the exact same system. Ubisoft should slow the fuck down with the release of their games and actually bother working on them beyond the state of "playable".
The only two Ubisoft games I've played in the past year were Blood Dragon and Assassins Creed Black Flag.
It's probably because of AC3 putting a lot of people off AC4.
Certainly the case for me. AC3 burned me completely out of the Assassin's Creed series. As much as I love pirates, Black Flag just isn't desirable at all.

I do agree that I probably had more fun in Farcry: Blood dragon than Farcry 3; I have high hopes regarding Watch_dogs, I really hope all the delays have made it a much more polished game.
People are starting to realize Ubisoft are releasing the same Assassins Creed game over and over again.
What? They stopped releasing the same AC game over and over again when they completed they AC2 Trilogy... Which shouldn't have been a thing, but they we're all solid games.
Anyone rating this winner is an idiot. When sales are down, the development teams get downsized, and people that actually enjoy making games lose their jobs.
You now read minds over the internet? Awesome. I can rate this OP winner for many other reasons.
