I've heard a couple of people say they got through some pretty serious injuries and the pain associated with it by smoking pot. Normally, I try to go through shit without using pain relievers. But last night I dislocated my knee playing soccer, and I'm pretty damn sure I've either broken my shoulder, or it's sprained far worse than I've ever had it before. I am in so much pain right now and the most the fucking doctor will give me is lortab. I'm desperate, desperate enough to try pot for the first time to get some relief.
Would it work well?
I'd put it up there as one of the best pain killers.
Smoke a joint or 2, then come back and tell us about the pain in your shoulder. If it isn't feeling better, then I will send you a couple of bucks over paypal.
I suffer from some weird, chronic back pain - that i've had since the beginning of grade 9 (so 4 years) and i find smoking marijuana can sometimes intensify the pain.
It increases my mood, and my happiness - but in terms of pain i personally have experienced that it sometimes can make the pain worse. Weed intensify's all your 'feelings' and whatnot, so it can increase a GOOD feeling, and sometimes it can increase a BAD feeling.
If your pain is bad enough take some Aleve, it contains a small(er) amount of Naproxen (A prescribed pain reliever) and should work better than Advil or Tylenol.
(Don't try to abuse naproxen for a high, as it won't get you high - and it will make your stomach bleed)
OR just go see a doctor and get prescribed some T3's or T4's containing codeine. Then your pain will be gone AND you'll be high.
Yeah it's not just a bullshit excuse just to get it legalized.
Will defo help you out.

Don't let this man stop you from trying.
For most people, it can accentuate moods and emotions, but it usually numbs the physical stuff.
For me, everything becomes softer and warmer, like a wooden chair feels as relaxing as a padded chair.
Occasionally if I've got a headache or something I'll think "ah yeah should be better after this..." and then I completely forget I had one =P
Don't know how it is for serious pain but I doubt it'll make it any worse
Well... Pain is a registered reason to get medical marijuana so I'd assume so.

The only other choice is opiates, which have quite a bit more side effects and are hard to get.
It's totally up to the person, see when I am on my computer and I'm high, I get totally involved with whatever is going on on-screen and forget about anything outside the boundaries of it, which means when I have a headache and smoke, I just forget about it, and it disappears.
Unfortunately, if you don't have that kind of psyche when high, or if you don't have anything to keep you busy, it could make the pain worse, it's a game of luck to be honest
Maybe even the strain of weed you're smoking - Okay the strain can be highly important, if you're looking for pain relief, you want a heavy indica. Maybe you're lucky enough to get a choice of strains, if not, just hope for the best
Is game of luck like a common phrase? It came to me easily at first but now I think about it I don't think it's what I'm looking for..
I can't say it does alot for me, but then again I still can have some pains left even after a high dose of opiates.

Game of luck, luck of the draw, up to chance...all the same thing ye.
Sometimes when I've had weed I suddenly become aware of a little bit of toothache that I was not aware of before. I believe it can help with pain and it normally numbs my body, however at low doses it seems to make me feel more aware.
Perhaps this is because I use primarily sativa, perhaps indica would numb the pain more effectively.
A few weekends ago i was out and really pissed i fell off something and smashed my face on a metal bar, smoked a joint and was fine, next day it hurt like shit, but i have also had times its made it much worse as i notice it more, depends on the weed and the pain.
when I caught swine flu, smoking weed made it feel a lot less terrible

Haha, I love smoking when I've got the flu, makes my head feel fantastic, with it already being pretty fuzzy
I think in cali they can prescribe it to you for pain
Physical harm while you're high is terrible.
I get pains all the time in my neck, back, and knees from when I used to play football. I find that smoking a good amount of weed gets rid of most of the pain.
Don't waste your first time on relieving pain .
[editline]11:08PM[/editline]
But yeah it works well, at least for me.
Physical harm while you're high is terrible.
Yeah I got my first tattoo done high, it hurt more because I was high lmao.
But in this case I have a personal experience.
I pulled a leg in my muscle for a few days during conditioning for Marching Band.
I smoked when I came home, and I could actually walk, it numbed the pain perfectly.
But the moral is don't join marching band.
But in all seriousness, it worked for me. I say go for it.
It's better than opiates :350:

Plus, the days after I kept smoking, and I could walk relatively normally, and it helped with the pain.
one time while I was high a girl pushed me down and started kicking me
it felt amazing

If this wasn't DD I'd make a joke about you being attacked by a girl. But I  DD so I won't.

You what? ;D
I find that it helps with dull, chronic pain very well. Not sure about sharp pain, though.
You what? ;D
Oh shit haha.
You catch my drift ;)
Yea yeah its cool :P
It's never helped me with pain. If I need something for pain I try and get aspirin or vicodin or an opiate.
It's hit or miss when i use weed for pain relief, sometimes it just makes me focus on it more, other times it completly forgot about the pain.
I never used to think that pot helped me with nausea. After doing DXM and HBWR seeds so many times, I see that it definitely does.

Shame that pot doesn't help with pot-related nausea :(
Shame that pot doesn't help with munchies-related nausea :(
Fix'd :v:
I always get a bit of nausea after smoking alot of weed, but it goes away after some drinks of cold water. And yes weed is a great pain reliever. I used to have alot of chronic knee pain but since I started smoking weed my pain has gone down to zero
