Singapore to train troops in Queensland under new deal
Everyone knows when the fighter jets are doing exercises from Singapore's military air base.
For those in the immediate neighbourhood it's a roar overhead, the planes already out of sight.
Australia is set to host thousands of troops from the tiny South-East Asian state, part of a major defence and trade deal struck earlier this month that seeks to bring the two countries closer together.
At just under 720 square kilometres, Singapore is taking no chances when it comes to defence.
The country's first prime minister, Lee Kuan Yew, once likened the city-state's strategy to being a "poisonous shrimp" — small, but able to extract painful, even deadly, retribution if attacked.
I'm surprised I haven't heard more on this given the deal was struck a month ago. Makes sense really given Singapore's tiny size.
I've always wondered if Singapore has nuclear weapons.
It makes perfect sense for smaller states saddled against larger, more aggressive nations to hold a trump card that basically makes invasion/intervention an impossibility. You invade my city-state? Fine, but if you take this too far to the point where we don't think we can recover, we're pushing the button.
It's the Russian "scorched earth" tactic to the umpth-degree. You'll never actually do it, but the threat of the possibility is enough to keep the dragon out.
I highly doubt they'd be able to manufacture them without it being found out somehow.

Give one to Hong-Kong and watch as the Chineese fuck off overnight.

Our trump card is actually a trap card. We have deep economic relations with the US, China and the EU that if anyone actually wants to invade us, they risk pissing off one of the three. Or all of them.
Makes sense, since Singapore has no space to do anything and Queensland has the population density of Mongolia and every variety of biome bar snow

Yeah, I highly doubt the citizens would agree that their government/military can blow them up like that.
Singapore is pretty benign when it comes to military forces, but they're rich as fuck for their size so I hope they're paying us a bit.

The less nuclear weapons the better tbh

I don't think that's how these things usually work, but I could easily be wrong.

I've always wondered what the "scorched Earth" would be like to live in. Like Fun for Fallout or something else.

You'd likely suffer from mild-to-acute radiation sickness, have no access to electricity, running water, sanitation, medical care or law enforcement, struggle to get basic necessities like food and water, watch those of your friends and family who weren't killed in the initial blast slowly die of starvation or radiation sickness, watch what's left of society crumble and erode around you, and finally die an early death from radiation poisoning, starvation, disease, or plain old violence at the hands of either bandits or what's left of the government.
In short, it would be a living nightmare. Fuck nuclear war.
FYI we been training in Aust for years. Also, we currently have more of our air force overseas then in the country due to space constraints. I have no idea what the fuck do we do when we gets attacked (though our doctrine is pre emptive strikes)

It's a bit like smashing a wasp's nest in. You'll probably succeed in destroying it, but you'd be extremely unhappy after that.
