The UK Green party have chosen Bernie Sanders' brother to be their candidate in the Whitney by-election.
More sources when the news agencies pick the story up.
He stood in the general election last year in a different seat, got 4.4%
Yeah it's all well and good but Greens.
Imagine having a party so pathetic they have co-leaders, yet they aren't even the most embarrassing left-wing political party in your country
Oh that's cool, I'll be helping the Lib Dems in Witney on Saturday
lol, Larry Sanders. you couldn't make this up if you tried.
too bad he's not gonna get anywhere

That's pretty cool, I didn't know you could time travel.

Pretty ignorant of British politics, but this is pretty much word for word what people said about his brother early in the race

This is one of the most safe Conservative seats in the country, and the outgoing MP (and PM) was hugely popular in Witney itself. The candidates other than the Conservative one are irrelevant.

Feel the Larn.
He should wear a leisure suit on the campaign trail
As a murican, who are the left/far-left parties and what have they been doing? Every time your country is in the news it's always the parties trying to gut the social services.

Labour is the far left party at the moment. There's also the rather rubbish Greens, the 'Tartan Tories' (SNP), Plaid 'Wales exists yeah' Cymru and a whole bunch of tiny left wing parties like TUSC and Left Unity and the like

The Greens are the people who would disband our entire military and turn the bases into nature reserves, remove immigration entirely by having open borders and jacking up the welfare budget so everyone gets a lot of free money.

Holy fuck lol. Imagine being this ignorant about the far left
Imagine having a party so pathetic they have co-leaders, yet they aren't even the most embarrassing left-wing political party in your country
As a lefty voter I honestly don't know which party I'd pick in an election. labour under Corbyn are hopelessly unelectable, much as I defend him as a person, I'm about to start paying the price of the lib Dems lies and the greens have never been particularly coherent. I'm worried the Tories have another decade of winning by default.

Those are mostly real Green Party policies, albeit sensationalised
Green Party leader called for replacing the army with a "home defence force" - source
"Some military training areas should be decommissioned and used as nature reserves, with suitable provision for access by the public." - from this page
Basic Income (free money for everyone) was in the 2015 manifesto, page 54
They didn't advocate open borders in 2015, explicitly rejecting it on page 72 of the manifesto, but they do have very liberal immigration policies - last year they called for the UK to accept 240,000 refugees

Holy shit, he's literally just Bernie, but British.

its about as likely as paul ryan's seat being compedative, its not gonna happen. i do think this kind of politician is what we need though and capturing local government positions first will be the path to larger gains
Yeah it's all well and good but Greens.
Some of the smartest people on facepunch vote green.
Proof : Me

Are the british greens as shitty as the american ones?
There's very little chance green party will ever win an election, at least in the US.
He got 3.5% of the vote

He should just join the lib dems
