"Say Peace. Walker. It's time to head into Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker!"
worst thumbnail ever
Has this become obligatory? If so, I have no issue with this.

Its literally the same style as the werediaper comic.

I don't even dislike the drawing that much, I just love this running joke.
On the topic of the thumbnail meme.
looking at all of his thumbnails, I think they've only gotten worse.
Well idk if some angry guy wants to persuade the mods to pass the Posting About Thumbnail Facepunch Act 2016 where anyone who comments about the Thumbnail gets banned
[editline]18th March 2016[/editline]
I'll happily create legislation for it
Thumbnail is a legit topic of conversation. I mean if the thumbnail for a video was a guy spreading his asshole open should people get banned for commenting on that?

no it's not the video is the discussions not some stupid the discussion of a pic.
Here's more awkward:

The thumbnail may not be great, but people bitch more about it than the videos themselves. It's literally kneejerk reaction at bad art that makes folks go "nah fuck this whole thing".

It's either that and/or some facepunchers here are trying to force another meme/running gag ala Florida Man.
Wow I hate how Jim keeps adding in all this filler in his shows, he needs to cut down on the beginning skits.

Wait which dead horse are we beating again?
Which thumbnail is worse, Johnny's or Caddicaruses?
Guys, we've all talked about the thumbnail, but who wants to mention the man himself? Ok I will:
He looks like a Latino TotalBiscuit.
Who wants to discuss the video? I will.
God Peace Walker looked like such a weird game but the end game looks great if a bit grindy.
Makes me upset that I lost my HD collection disc. I actually wanna play it right now.

It's grindy and fucking obnoxious trying to get the right parts from the bosses for your AI Zeke, but it's still nothing compared to the grind in MGSV. And I get the feeling Johnny's going to comment on that in his next video.

That reminds me I gotta finish MGSV before he posts his review. His reviews are partly why I decided to pick the game back up again frankly.

I'd say you have near two weeks or more, he has to work his way up with a fresh save probably and it'll take him a bit if he's not rushing, plus he's a bit of a completionist at times and he also has to go through Ground Zeroes and review both of their stories. [sp]Not that it'd be too long seeing as the length of the plot is.. pretty arbitrarily short if you're not delving into tape details.[/sp]

Total grindfest. God rest the souls of those who wish to complete it, its total bullshit.

MGSV is way more fun than Peace Walker, at least.
peace walker has barely any grinding it it until the postgame, where at that point it doesn't really matter since you already beat all the missions
I had to grind to finish Zeke. That was needlessly annoying.

Zeke is the aforementioned postgame, y'know. The major grinding needed during the course of a main playthrough by itself is primarily for better weapons/gear to have a higher chance of actually beating those goddamn, huge health bar bosses. Otherwise the majority of the grind pre-postgame is just sorta 'there' and something you tackle as you please to better your shit. Mother Base development is really progress-based and kind of automatic so long as you stay consistent in fultons and keep up on your shit.
MGSV on the other hand doesn't seem anywhere near as prominent in grind at first, but then it starts hitting hard, forcing you to build more parts of your Mother Base and stonewalling you until you do so combined with gradually raising enemy awareness no matter what you do with no consistency in keeping it down, so no matter what you do replays are just going to get more and more obnoxious. Alongside gradually lowering mission replay payouts (which is a bother in the case your GMP and resources aren't quite enough to progress for whatever reason), it's basically "time to go fultoning" or alternatively go and play the repetitive side-ops to acquire more GMP and more men via recruitment. A player who fultons extensively during their playthrough and does side-ops plentifully along the way shouldn't have too much of a problem, but the grind is easily more noticeable. There's also the fact that PW has a large number of side/extra-ops, but while not all are winners obviously what with 'harder boss/vehicle refights', there's more variety in them than in all of MGSV's side-ops which are simply "fulton this", "grab this" or "kill/destroy this" and all mostly the same thing, just with a different area and different context/flavor text depending on the archetype. Literally the only exceptions are the plot side-ops.
I mean jesus fucking christ the game literally goes, "Okay, you want to customize your guns like we showed in that one E3 video, go extract the legendary gunsmith," only to outright force you to do it two more times because "whoops they're actually students of the real legendary gunsmith!" And don't get anyone started on Chapter 2, which basically smothers the plot for hours on end depending on how built-up your MB is and whether you listened to certain tapes, doesn't tell you the variant mission replays are completely optional, and doesn't even have a proper conclusion depending on how you see it.

...Except that's not post-game. You need to finish Zeke to see the ending. There's the "ending" and the actual ending with [sp]the Paz bossfight.[/sp] That's not some special bonus at after the game, that's the actual end of the game.
And development of items/weapons was agonizing since you had to play weapons to advance anything. There is the concept of "no shit, what else are you going to do?" but say I'm playing MGSV versus PW: a mission will advance progress of a development by 30% in PW, while I can pass 20 minutes playing a mission and finish a project in MGSV.
[editline]21st March 2016[/editline]
Bottom line is that MGSV fixed a lot of PW's issues.
Is grinding in this case referring to all the side missions you have to complete in order to even unlock later story missions, or actually grinding to get stronker so you can beat later story missions?
because I only remember the former

To get PW's true ending you have to complete 7 missions that unlock after doing some side ops or replaying missions. While you're doing this you should be finishing Zeke and getting better guns. It goes like this 2 side/replays > 1 new story mission until you have to find the guy you've been chasing in Mother Base's shooting range.

Can't blame them. Who would watch a video that right off the bat presents itself with quality on par with the depths of deviantart
His complaints about peacewalker "telling us shit we already know" is a sad side effect of Kojima's decision to make the games out of order chronologically. Everyone will tell you that for maximum enjoyment you should play the games in release order but I wish johnny had played them all in chronological order. Everything makes so much more sense and MGS4 Especially feels great with all the flashbacks and memories from the previous games you've played if you play it last. In that sense, you see cypher go from PW to MGSV and become the patriots in the rest of the games. Its a very natural evolution.
IMO playing them chronologically is the only way to play them now that V is out. It actually "fixes" a lot of the complaints people have with MGSV's story aswell.

MGSV and Peace Walker both assume you know the events of MGS4. Cypher, Motherbase, and Major Zero all have no connection to the player if they just go straight in from MGS3 (or Portable Ops). If you just go from 3 to PW you get shit like Miller popping up out of no where, which only works in release order because the players know Miller from Metal Gear 2 [sp]and his death in MGS1.[/sp]
Skullface's entire character and his actions have no punch if you don't know what their ultimate effects are. [sp]Him disabling Zero and preventing Zero and Big Boss from reconciling is what resulted in Metal Gear and everything that followed, without Skullface there is no conflict but without the knowledge of that conflict the significance of what he does is lost. It just becomes a terrible thing done by a vindictive asshole.[/sp]
