There's no getting around it: This video is tough to watch. But having actually lived the things described therein — that may be the literal definition of torture.
An Air Force veteran by the name of Robin Temple sits with her scars fully exposed, each one a permanent reminder of her living hell.
She recounts in excruciating detail how each one came to be, sparing no detail of the years-long nightmare that's fast approaching a tragic climax.
She deserves to have it all heard in full, but this is what it boils down to:
After going to a VA OBGYN to undergo an oopherectomy (ovary removal surgery), Temple emerged with a colon that was not properly sewed up.
She complained to her doctor that something didn't feel right, but was told she was suffering from PTSD and to ignore it.
Ultimately, she experienced sepsis and fell into a near-death coma.
This is more heart-breaking than anything I've heard in a long time.
I don't like the VA.
They've refused to help my both my father, and my Grandfather due to military related injuries, even though they're perfectly eligible.

They helped out my grandfather because he genuinely thought his back problems and arthritis were because of Agent Orange.
Would it kill these people to make sure that they did their jobs right? Every time I hear about medical malpractice, it makes something die inside of me. At the rate this profession is going, one generation from now, the worst insult somebody can offer somebody else would be to call them doctors if they keep deteriorating like this.
It's like, the video starts out bad, and then it just gets worse, and worse, and worse and worse and worse and oh my god the poor woman
There are no words
What the fuck
All of my deepest thoughts and sympathies go out to Ms. Pontello, nobody should ever have to go through what she has, and deserves far more than what she has have. She is beyond strong, I could never imagine myself or anybody I know going through this.
what a bunch of douchebags
The military in the 80's and 90's wasn't too interested in helping its members. I am thankful for the paradigm shift that has happened (albeit very recently) in the military to actually start caring for its personnel. This airman needs a crazy amount of compensation for the butchery visited upon her. It is reprehensible. Also, the VA really fucking sucks and needs to clean house very badly.
Currently in the Air Force. I was also sexual assaulted and subsequently sent to a mental hospital as well. Guess that's how they deal with it now a days. Shameful. I despise the uniform I wear now.
Should I trust Dailymail comments and stories from people that I know in the US and Canadian military?

I know a guy who served in Vietnam, got shot and recovered in a VA hospital. He said it sucked then.
He says the changes he's seen since then are drastic (he went back recently for diabetes). It's changed tremendously, and for the better. Of course, he might be talking specifically about Great Lakes.
My Grandfather won't go to a VA he says they only way out is the basement.
