Several Asian nations are arming up, their wary eyes fixed squarely on one country: a resurgent China that's boldly asserting its territorial claims all along the East Asian coast.
Well, now we have Asia pissed off at China, I swear to God, WW3 is going to be the whole world vs China and Russia. Meanwhile, North Korea still complains about not being able to invade south Korea.
I didn't know John Wetton was planning to go to war.
I wonder if China is noticing Russia's success in Georgia and Ukraine and looking for its own little victories.
China would not be able to do much against Japan.
Japan has quite a capable defense force. Still ahead of China despite a disparity in total numbers.

The only questions are whether the US would be up to living up to its contract with Japan and helping Taiwan, and whether any country in East Asia would be willing to stand up to China.

US has military bases in Japan, so probably.
I don't think South Korea has any important defense treaty with the USA... at least with regards to China
Vietnam is always saying fuck you to china so yeah, we be hating them chinese aggression too

The US has the military capability and diplomatic obligation to go to war with China if they attack Japan (the wording is much more vague for Taiwan)
but do we want to? Not honoring the treaty is definitely a possibility

Given that China was a major participant in the Korean War, I'm sure there's words in whatever treaty about defending them from China.

Definitely won't for the next few years. The American public is just too damn war-weary. Heck, people in Obama's own party is complaining about just air strikes against ISIS.
not surprised, especially with China's crazy claims in the Spratly Islands and other areas.
Hopefully Japan does the right thing and tries to help Vietnam, Taiwan, and all the other countries tired of China in Asia. This will hopefully improve relations with these countries.
That will be more like one big ass apology from the shit they did in World war 2, but still give China the bird

I doubt it, even with the war-wearyness, I think if fucking China went to war with Japan, a major ally of us, we wouldn't hesitate to do whatever we can to help Japan.

Also not to mention the fact that they are literally building islands, that's a crazy thing to do if I ever saw one.
The nuclear armageddon is near!
If Chima puts a flag on a sand island, I doubt USA would go to war
If China put a flag on Seoul or Kyushu or Taipei, I doubt USA wouldn't go to war
When most of your economy is proving for the West, I doubt China would want to go to war either.
