Not a fan of the Raichu variant tbh. But at least GameFreak is acknowledging it's existence. Even thought i'm pretty sure they're just hyping up for PikaSurf.

I like that they're trying to bring back the popularity of Gen 1's with variants. I hope they do that for other gens too. Would love to see some variants for some Johto Pokemon.

So far I'm leaning towards the latter, since it's only gen 1 pokemon that have been revealed to have new forms so far. If it is just Gen 1 this time, maybe they'll focus on Gen 2 for the next game. Alolan forms do bring up a few questions. You should be able to trade in non-Alolan form pokemon, right? Will you be able to trade Alolan forms to the next game? What about the game after that? That would be like trading from Diamond and Pearl to X and Y, or from Black and White to Sun and Moon. Would you be able to find Alolan forms wandering around in the pokemon games two gens after Sun and Moon?
