They still know how to make great trailers.
You can already view the Air Superiority video on Battlelog too, if you have Premium.
Wish they supplied the cutscene maker thing with the game. But thats EA for you i guess.
Can't wait for this!
I don't understand the dislike for battlefield 3 on this forum, It's constantly bashed yet its still a lot of fun and they keep releasing updates like this one which just look brilliant and keep things fresh.

Battlefield is one of the franchises most people love and don't want to turn to shit.
CTF is good, no mod tools is not good and so on.
I love the BF3 trailers even though they very loosely represent the actual gameplay.
End game is shaping up to something very fun looking.
Reminds me of the Tactical Intervention highway maps. A multiplayer FPS revolving around vehicle pursuit chases would be p rad.

I kinda laughed at the trailer.
I mean he couldnt hit the enemy bikes for shit and they were right goddamn there :v:

Very few games come with their cutscene tools. Only one I can think of is Source Filmmaker, really. Some other games get video tools (Halo, Forza Motorsport), but they aren't nearly as powerful as the private ones used for trailers.

Ehhh. I love the game, honestly. It's a lot of fun, even if it's a bit too modernized, but they made a lot of good decisions. I think it's mostly that people think it's a good game, just not a good battlefield game.

The hatred stems from:
It's an EA game, for starters.
It has a very limited color palette ("real life is desaturated blue/tan") without graphical mods
DLC - though in this case they are more-or-less expansion packs, like Special Forces or Armored Fury for BF2.
The impression that it has been dumbed down from BF2 / BF2142 - there's no Commander and the maps are smaller.

It's this disparity between showcase trailers and actual gameplay. Normal players are ruthlessly efficient, especially when they're that close to each other.
Still, I think DICE does a great job at making these trailers. They're explosive, they showcase the new stuff, and it's all captured ingame instead of pre-rendered bullshit.
BF3 has the best DLC for an online game. They do what other companies say is impossible to do.
My favorite thing about the MP is that it feels like it's an unscripted Campaign game.
It seriously felt like it was in a film, No joke

Because it's an EA game, they're trying to appeal to the wrong audience with DLC like "close quarters" and they're dumbing down the franchise by giving vehicles infinite ammo and regenerating health. Stuff like air superiority is cool, but I don't know if it's cool enough to justify picking it up again.
Honestly been considering buying the Premium pack. I may take a punt on it.

save yourself the money and just buy endgame, karkand, and armored kill.

If you're playing the game regularly or considering getting back in, I'd say go for it. It's long been established that the content-to-money ratio of the BF3 DLCs is better than that of the older titles in the franchise.
Its going to be a little while before I take another chance with EA. Still feeling the burn of the last couple attempts and considering virtually every server is running some sort of expansion now instead of vanilla, I'm almost guaranteed to have to pay for my game, again, just to get back into playing it.
This looks fun as fuck

3 DLC packs = 45 dollars.
Premium = 50 and goes on sale for 35 often.
Whooo five bucks saved...
So I would invest the extra five bucks for 50 if you want those 3. Or wait until it goes down to 35. Then you get all the packs and the premium stuff.

You do realize that this would be about the same costs, do you?
Buy Premium and just don't play close quarters except for assignments.
That gameplay is so staged, but I wish that kinda shit would happen in multiplayer games

What this guy said.
I like all the DLCs outside of CQ. Maybe if they heavily reduced the amount of supression one gets but it's like BLURRY SCREEN SO REAL like every goddamn fucking second of the game.
[editline]31st January 2013[/editline]
And it REALLY doesn't help that hit detection is done clientside AFAIK so even if you jump behind cover there is a 75% chance of you still dying because fuck you that's why.
Imagine if that actually happened in game haha.
Real example.
Team a grabs the flag and hauls ass over a field in a direct line towards flag cap point. Car gets blown up. 20 minutes of them moving the flag 3 feet then being mowed down. Someone randomly gets it in a car and wins or it gets returned and the other team loses faith and just starts killing
I feel like in CTF this kinda stuff could totally happen. If a guy grabs a flag, gets in some vehicle and just books it, everyone will just have to chase him with whatever they find. If that map will feature like a couple actual vehicles and a shitload of dirtbikes, it might go down something like that.
LOL these trailers make my speakers fart

updates =/= dlc
also bf3 could have been a lot better than it was which is why it receives so much hate
no voip, less focus on squad play than previous titles, 4 man squads when it's supposed to be a sequel to bf2, not even a fully functioning server browser (although all their games have shit server browsers for some reason), not to mention the stuff that wasn't in the vanilla game that was in previous games (like atvs), no mod tools, no main menu, being forced to use battlelog (no it's not terrible but i'd prefer not to use it and many others would too), no terrain destruction (even though it was in the alpha they decided to remove it instead of refine it), no clan support, no battlerecorder and no theater
is it a fun game? sure, i put atleast 100 hours into it myself since day 1
but it's not anywhere near as good as it should and could have been

Not if you pre-ordered.
