The Turkish military has said that three of its soldiers have been killed and 10 more wounded in Syria by an air strike allegedly launched by Syrian government forces. A statement from the Turkish armed forces on its website said that the attack occurred at 3:30am local time [00:30 GMT] on Thursday. "In the air strike assessed to have been by Syrian regime forces, three of our heroic soldiers were killed and 10 soldiers wounded, one seriously," it said in the statement. It did not say where the attack occurred, but Turkish news media said the location was near the northern Syrian city of Al Bab. "If confirmed, this could be a major escalation because it would be the first time that Turkish troops have been killed in a Syrian air strike," said Al Jazeera's Osama Bin Javaid, reporting from Gaziantep on the Turkish side of the Turkish-Syrian border. "The Turkish military statement says, it believed so far that it was a Syrian air strike, which killed its troops. But we have not had any confirmation from them after that." The city of Al Bab is a strategic area, which is close to the Turkish border in northern Syria en route to Raqqa and Idlib. It is one of the remaining stronghold of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS). Our correspondent added: "Earlier in the day, we heard claims from several Syrian pro-government websites saying that this attack was carried out by ISIL."
Al Jazeera You think the Turkish Army realizes that invading someones country, financing and building up a rebel army, and having training camps on your soil is a conduct for war, and the Syrians were going to eventually respond? Not confirmed by the way, but the Russian Air Force is supposedly stating that they'll shoot down Turkish jets if they dare attack Syrian aircraft, and they'll most likely set up SAM sites near Aleppo.
Well there were a confirmed incidents of Euphrates Shield forces opening up on Syrian troops, there were reports of mortar shelling from the territory occupied by Turkish forces. It was bound to happen that SAA responds. Syrian shit-flinging contest just never ends.
They do though? SAA is allied with the Kurds and SDF, and not to mention ya' know the Turks are still invading Syrian soil.
Its okay to invade a country as long as you're in NATO and telling the world you're stopping terrorism
ES and SAA dont share any border though. 10 kms between then the closest point. And never heard of shelling.
Yeah looking at detailed maps for the operation, those reports I've read a month ago must've been bullshit, the only event that the shelling could've taken place is when FSA and ES forces made an incursion into Kurdish territory SW from their positions in October, and that was brief as fuck. Here's an awesome map, it has timetables for the events and all the cool shit if anyone wants.
Evil badman Assad has to be stopped at all costs! He used poison gas! (Even though nobody knows who used the gas)
they do know who used the gas actually, they tried to use that as evidence in UN then Russia comes with satellite recordings detailing where it was launched from.
