An official in the office of French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius told the AFP news agency the draft would be presented to ministers at 10:30 GMT. No details of the agreement have been released so far. The deal in the French capital was reached nearly 16 hours after the talks had been scheduled to close. "We have a text to present," the official said, adding that the draft would be now translated into the UN's six official languages.
The agreement: http://unfccc.int/resource/docs/2015/cop21/eng/l09r01.pdf
Are we gonna start fixing things? Oh who am I kidding... Bet its gonna be like those bead things and only gonna start in 2020
Are we gonna start fixing things? Oh who am I kidding... Bet its gonna be like those bead things and only gonna start in 2020
considering how massive of an operation it is to completely flip your energy infrastructure, its not surprising it would take a decade.
i hope our congress doesn't torpedo this thing the second it gets here because "its obama's deal!"
Are we gonna start fixing things? Oh who am I kidding... Bet its gonna be like those bead things and only gonna start in 2020
2020 would be great. It'll probably be around 2050 or 2100. Takes time no matter how soon you mandate whatever it is.
Anyone know how badly it's going to assfuck cars and how much of a slap on the wrist it gives power companies?
whats sort of infuriating is china (one of the largest economies and largest current polluter) insists that they are a developing country and shouldn't be under the more stringent emissions standards that developed countries use, they have plenty of resources to greatly cut their emissions without destroying their manufacturing capabilities [editline]11th December 2015[/editline] another concern is this treaty will most likely only cover carbon emissions, but water pollution is also a big problem in these countries and it does spill over into neighboring countries
Anyone know how badly it's going to assfuck cars and how much of a slap on the wrist it gives power companies?
You should just buy a bicycle and use that for your transportation since you hate any- and everything new about automobiles
Carbon emissions is a good, high-priority start.
true, they are the main problem of global warming, but if we're talking about saving the enviroment we can't just leave it to the co2 emissions, we have to consider the ramifications of unchecked unsustainable industry
true, they are the main problem of global warming, but if we're talking about saving the enviroment we can't just leave it to the co2 emissions, we have to consider the ramifications of unchecked unsustainable industry
But we're not talking about saving the planet. We're talking about global warming specifically.

Water is going to be come liquid gold in some areas, but at the same time we need all of our main polluters (industry - we're a drop in the bucket) to knock off some of that pollution.
How long before the Republicans start a campaign saying Obama is trying to give away our sovereignty.
Make no mistake the US will not ratify the deal and nobody expects them to. They never ratified the Kyoto Protocol either

So...we won't be leaving this to the next generation? Bummer....I mean, this is great!
Make no mistake the US will not ratify the deal and nobody expects them to.
I could've sworn they did, we had to learn about it in HVAC class, and knowing about the limitations it set was part of the test to get our 608 license.
No they didn't. And if they did somehow ratify it or something like that, it was with absurd deadlines and emission reductions.
Faith in humanity restored
So this is going to force China and the U.S. congress to go along with it right? Tell me this isn't just like the Kyoto protocol and it will actually make countries lower their emissions.
Watch as none of the large polluters really change anything.
What was the kyoto protocol?
What was the kyoto protocol?
1997 deal where industrialized countries greatly capped their industry while developing ones like China and India got free reign, china still demanded the same treatment in this deal, even though they are the largest polluter on the planet, and they have the resources to start tackling that pollution [editline]13th December 2015[/editline] The US walked out of the deal and the republicans have been fear mongering it ever since using it as the example of what fighting global warming would mean for industry. I'm sick of hearing that we will destroy the economy because of this treaty, green energy is and has been outpacing fossil fuel for the last decade in terms of growth and its had an unfavorable regulatory system too
small correction - it was 1992.

The Kyoto Protocol is an international treaty, which extends the 1992 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) that commits State Parties to reduce greenhouse gases emissions, based on the premise that (a) global warming exists and (b) man-made CO2 emissions have caused it. The Kyoto Protocol was adopted in Kyoto, Japan, on 11 December 1997 and entered into force on 16 February 2005.
Oh fuck I didn't read into it enough and now I look like a sucker
Anyone know how badly it's going to assfuck cars and how much of a slap on the wrist it gives power companies?
The UN is going to come and remove the engine from your truck and put a catalytic converter on your blender tonight
Faith in humanity restored
Why? absolutely nothing has been disclosed about the deal, aside from being agreed upon.
Why? absolutely nothing has been disclosed about the deal, aside from being agreed upon.
The full text of the agreement has been released http://unfccc.int/resource/docs/2015/cop21/eng/l09r01.pdf https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paris_Agreement
Can we please beat climate change? The US republicans should just all sit on a dick because they're ruining it for everybody if they don't ratify this shit.
