North Korea has been busy for the past week, trying to jam the navigation signals going to civilian aircraft over South Korea, according to reports in South Korean media.
Through Wednesday afternoon, the GPS satellite signals to more than 250 aircraft have been affected, the Chosun Ilbo reported, citing South Korea's Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs Ministry.
Planes from Korean Air, Japan Airlines, FedEx, Cathay Pacific and Thai Airways have been affected, Bloomberg news reported, citing the Land Ministry.
The jamming began April 28, according to a report from Dong-A Ilbo.
The planes have been able to use other systems to keep on their courses, according to the reports.
The planes affected were either taking off or landing at Incheon or Gimpo international airports or flying over the central region of the country, according to the reports.
The jamming signals were coming from the Kaesong area of North Korea, Chosun Ilbo reported, citing a staffer at the Korea Communications Commission.
The jamming comes after North Korea threatened to initiate "special actions" aimed at destroying the South Korean president and his government.
North Korean armed forces will use "unprecedented peculiar means and methods of our own style" to carry out the actions, the official Korean Central News Agency said in a report.
It did not specify what those actions would involve.

Now they're fucking with commercial airliners.
I wonder how much they know about modern airliners, like the fact that it's going to take a hell of a lot more than that.
Maybe they are targetting something else that needs GPS?

Considering Air Koryo uses Soviet era pieces of shit for its fleet, they don't know much about modern air travel.
Why the hell would they even bother. It is so ridiculously pointless. You would think that they would mess with something that is actually important such as South Korea's military rather than just trying to cause civilian deaths.
For a while there I thought we were done with 'best korea'
Korea has just fallen to the level of trolling it's neighbour?

They always troll them.
wow assholes
The indoctrination going on over there seem to have turned them all into primitive cavemen at this point.

Yeah, at least stop using the meme in thread titles.

It's not a meme, it's a nickname. One that fits rather well.
Jamming the signals is about as effective as DNS blocking pirate bay. There will always be ways around it, and in the end you're just pissing people off.
why.
This couldn't be any "demonstration of power" even by a stretch, what could North reasonably gain?
Could also be that they are doing shit on the same frequencies. Developing countries like to do that from time to time because they don't give two shits about who else is on the spectrum.
Shouldn't South Korea be a little more pissed off about this? I mean they're messing with civilian airline communication.
Won't be long before we get a Korean War: Part 2. North Koreans need to be freed, they live in hell over there and enjoy it, because it's all they know. I'd prefer a nonviolent solution to the issue, but if they want war, then war they shall receive.

I need a translation of this.
For reasons.
:v:
I read Best Korea Jamming, much better that way.

It could very well be accidental, but as North Korea has excellently shown, they have the best engineers in the world who wouldn't possibly make such a mistake

if there ever is a "war" then who do you think will get the most punishment? the army? no it'll be the civilians.

As we damn well should be.
I bet they're trying to make everyone share Kim Jong Il's fear of flying.

My korean is quite rough and this is the North Korean dialect, but it should translate to something like "I will show the imperialistic people the north korean rock"
Rock? I think they spelled cock wrong.
North Korea is like a skinny scrawny kid who is an annoying little shit and wants to start a fight so bad, but would get totally wrecked if he did.
They have the 4th biggest army in the world (2nd if you count reserve personal) and the biggest per capita, I doubt they would get "wrecked" if there was a military offensive in North Korea
Size doesn't mean shit. Their air force has no training, old equipment as does their navy. Their ground forces have old technology. They're basically compared to people with sticks to NATO forces. We wouldn't even need boots on the ground.

Google translate says:
"Imperialist species or a lock on young people's show went to the naerae"
Trying to refine:
The Imperials lock on to a peoples show which went to the Narr(ly)-ray

Size really doesn't matter, considering their circumstances. No fuel for conducting military exercises, seclusion leading to obsolete technology and under-experienced/under-trained personnel, barely able to keep the destitute country running (on care packages from their great imperialistic enemies, might I add). As they are, the most they can do is make a single push for Seoul and bomb as much as they possibly can before inevitably being crushed.
Technology has come far in the last decades, and that really makes a difference. Look at Iraq under the Hussein dictatorship. 4th largest standing army in the world. Wiped out in 2 weeks. For all it was worth getting them, those tanks were just coffins on tracks.
It really is suicide, but it looks like they don't mind.

Asian culture doesn't really look down on those who kill themselves for their country. Look at WW2 for fuck's sake.
Why does everyone just imagine that we would steam roll them? We probably would, but is that worth a mega city becoming a harbor?
