Wow,wasn't expecting much but this looks great !
This iteration of Pennywise certainly looks creepier, though somehow I have my doubts that they'll be able to top Tim Curry's performance.
fuckin gimme goddamn
IT was my shit
weird that they went and removed the time skip into adulthood. i always thought adults that still hold a deep fear in their hearts since childhood was a neat idea.
regardless, i thought this trailer makes the movie look better than i had expected it to. i assumed they were going to modernize it, make IT go through the internet and smart phones and spook you with CLOWN EMOJIS, or some shit.
After all the rather bad looking promotional stuff... it actually looks good!
Finn Wolfhard, aka Will Byers from Stranger Things is a star in this film, too.

yeah they're splitting it between two films this time around, the sequel (assuming this doesn't flop lol) will take place when they're adults.
This looks great, but I have to admit the last scene jump-scare with IT running through the water only made me laugh. I think that's half the fun of IT anyways, it's scary but kinda funny too?
It doesn't look like the worst reboot I've ever seen.
Rebooted horror has never been done right though so...
Always ready for someone to be the first.

He's Mike, not Will.

'John Carpenter's The Thing' counts I would think even if the original bares little resemblance to his version.

I hate those types of scenes. The scenes that sort of show too much but only just a glimpse. Alien had a scene like that in those vents when the alien jump scares at the camera. When you know it's coming and you pay attention, it's just a guy in the suit throwing his arms out like "WHAT THEN?!"

Evil Dead reboot managed to separate itself quite well especially considering the legacy it was connected to.
I've never seen the original though it looks pretty faithful to the book from what I remember. Do we know what the rating on this is going to be? The book had some pretty fucked up scenes

whoa
Wow, this looks better than I thought it would. And I like how it's been timeshifted from the 50s to the 80s, that's a nice touch

Pretty sure they confirmed it for R.

If I'm not mistaken they flat out said [sp]when IT kills Georgie he rips his arm off like in the book[/sp] so it'd be pretty hard to skirt that

The fly, the thing, evil dead etc etc

Fair. I probably should have said: "I can count the successful amount of horror reboots on one hand."

does not belong on this list

unless you're talking about the show which isn't a reboot
But it had a fine reboot?
if turning genius into generic trash and changing every detail is fine I guess
Hope they haven't forgotten that Pennywise has a character. Tim Curry was (gloriously) ridiculous but most of his lines and mannerisms were in the book and they're important in showing Pennywise isn't just a mindless monster but an intelligent being.
i feel like they've really misunderstood Pennywise. by making the clown in itself directly scary you miss the subversion that makes it actually scary: It's not a monster clown, It's a clown that turns out to be a monster. the context is what makes it work. if It only wanted to jump-scare and murder kids it could just turn into an actually spooky monster instead of a dumb "creepy" clown.
Please PLEASE, don't focus the whole thing into making just cheap jumpscares.

When did he get transported to Dark Souls?
I agree, my one fear for this adaption is that they won't do Pennywise justice. They should have had one scene in the trailer where he acts like a normal clown so we could see multiple aspects to his character, if they exist.

Go back and watch evil dead 1 not 2, 1 and tell me how "genius " it is.

credit where it's due, the whole aspect of him having elements of clowns from different time periods is pretty cool. if his characterization were more friendly and, you know, clownish, it could be a decently unnerving hint about his true nature. but the design as a whole still really misses the mark
