People in Scotland have begun voting on whether the country should stay in the UK or become an independent nation. Voters will answer "Yes" or "No" to the referendum question: "Should Scotland be an independent country?" With 4,285,323 people - 97% of the electorate - registered to vote, a historically high turnout is expected. Votes will be cast at 2,608 polling places across the country until 22:00 on Thursday. The result is expected early on Friday morning. Ballot papers will be counted in each of Scotland's 32 local authority areas. These will include votes cast from the 789,024 postal vote applications, which was the largest volume of registration for postal votes ever in Scotland. After votes have been tallied, the counting officer in each area will communicate the result to the chief counting officer Mary Pitcaithly in Edinburgh. With her approval they will then make a declaration of the result. Once the results from all 32 local authority areas are known, Ms Pitcaithly will declare the result of the referendum at the Royal Highland Centre outside Edinburgh. Ms Pitcaithly has said she will announce the result at "breakfast time" on Friday. The result is most likely to be between 06:30 and 07:30, according to Elections Scotland.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-29238890

This ranks up there with one of the most important events of this century.

Hopefully it won't be a tie
Good luck Scotland and godspeed.
I'm working nightshift and will get home in time for the results, my fingers and toes will be crossed for Independance.

I hope Scotland makes the right choice... and by that I mean a No vote.
I hope the turnout is yes, even if it's just so that we won't forget all of this happened in a few months and it'll really go down in history. You have to wonder what would happen.
If they vote yes: lol rip. If they vote no: nothing will change.
Hopefully it won't be a tie
With several million people it would be pretty fucking unlikely to be a tie.

Though I voted by postal 3 weeks ago so I can't do much.
Oh also reminder that the current government can veto the whole thing at the end regardless of how the vote goes.
#yes!
Oh also reminder that the current government can veto the whole thing at the end regardless of how the vote goes.
Yes and the Queen can dissolve Parliament, doesn't mean there is any chance of it happening.
Yes and the Queen can dissolve Parliament, doesn't mean there is any chance of it happening.
It could happen, that's all I'm saying. :v:
I hope its a no vote but I'm trying to delude myself into thinking its going to be a yes so I'm not miserable should it turn out to be. I'm mainly hoping we can put this whole independence shit to bed after the referendum, its the one of the most toxic things I've seen in this country for a long while.
With several million people it would be pretty fucking unlikely to be a tie.
Dude I made a toxx clause on that we would get a result, and knowing my luck, the chances for a tie increased by 75%

That's a little harsh, sure, everyone is pumped, others a little less decent about it than most. But I would truelly love Scotland to become more akin to our scandanavian neighbours. They seem to have their heads screwed on socially, they treat their people extraordinarily well, Westminster? Not so much. Not saying they've done a totally terrible job, but I'm really not proud to be ruled by those people.
I kinda hope yes just to see how things will work out but I think everyone knows no is probably the best for everyone.

Vote yes so Sean Connery can return to Scotland.
Dude I made a toxx clause on that we would get a result, and knowing my luck, the chances for a tie increased by 75%
A tie is still a result. Toxx would occur if all the votes were destroyed though
When does the result come in? I wanna go down to george square and join either the party or the riot. If it's proper early then fuck it.
Vote yes so Sean Connery can return to Scotland.
Vote no so Piers Morgan has to go back to America.
Vote no so Piers Morgan has to go back to America.
No thanks.
Vote no so Piers Morgan has to go back to America.
Surely it's easier to make sure he has an accident? :v:
Vote no so Piers Morgan has to go back to America.
America would go over to Europe and liberate Scotland from English oppression just for the sake of avoiding that.
