The online project screened 24/7 around the world will see 30 male and female contestants seek to stay alive in wilderness populated with bears and wolves. Organisers boast 'everything is allowed' including 'rape' and 'murder', but would-be participants are nevertheless warned: 'You must understand that the police will come and take you away. We are on the territory of Russia, and obey the laws of the Russian Federation.' Contestants will be permitted knives, but no guns. They will be given survival training from Russia's elite former GRU Spetznaz operatives, but after that they will be on their own coping with temperatures ranging from 35C in high summer to minus 40C or lower in the depths of the Siberian winter.

There will be no filming crew: the whole area will be dotted with cameras and each participant will be carrying a portable camera with 7-hour life rechargeable battery.' Contestants must be at least 18 and 'mentally sane', he said. People from all corners of the world will be allowed to participate and he promises broadcasts simultaneously translated in English, French, German, Spanish, Chinese and Arabic. The aim is to include 15 men and 15 women. Participants can pay 10 million roubles to take part, around $165,000, or face selection by viewers in an online voting session. He believes it will attract 'rich and risky' people craving a new and ultimate challenge.
Other source: http://www.mediaite.com/online/so-russia-is-doing-a-hunger-games-style-reality-show-that-allows-rape-and-murder/
So, this is where we’re at now. Russia is actually doing the Hunger Games. According to a report from The Siberian Times, the TV show Game2: Winter, will be launched next year and its rules sound remarkably like some YA novels/a Jennifer Lawrence film. 30 Men and women will be dropped into the wilderness, which does have bears and wolves and…that’s it. All the contestants have to do is stay alive for nine months, and the show will be available to watch 24/7 during that time period. The winner of the show will receive $1.65 million. If there are multiple winners, they will share the prize. On the show, as in the Hunger Games, everything is allowed. Though the contestants are not given guns, they will be given knives, and according to the show’s organizers, “Each contestant gives consent that they could be maimed, even killed. 2,000 cameras, 900 hectares and 30 lives. Everything is allowed. Fighting, alcohol, murder, rape, smoking, anything.”
May the odds be ever in your favor!
Organisers boast 'everything is allowed' including 'rape' and 'murder', but would-be participants are nevertheless warned: 'You must understand that the police will come and take you away. We are on the territory of Russia, and obey the laws of the Russian Federation.'
So it's allowed but you will get arrested and charged for it, so it's not allowed then?
I think rape and murder are a bit too much.
This is kinda fucked up.
So it's allowed but you will get arrested and charged for it, so it's not allowed then?
It's not banned by the rules of the game, so maybe if you kill someone else to win you still can claim the prize but you'll go to jail as well.
Contestants must be at least 18 and 'mentally sane', he said.
Mentally sane people wouldn't do this [editline].[/editline]
Participants can pay 10 million roubles to take part, around $165,000
And you're paying to do this instead of getting paid
Well, this is it. Humanity has finally made Series 7: The Contenders a real thing. How depressing.
It's not banned by the rules of the game, so maybe if you kill someone else to win you still can claim the prize but you'll go to jail as well.
So it's not allowed then. Allowed would imply that they are okay with you doing it. They're not okay with it if you get arrested for it.
I think what they mean is you are free to do anything in taiga due to remote wilderness and absent of constant police monitoring, but you will face prosecution after noneless. Wich is logical, but spoken in a wierd matter to attach attention.
So it's allowed but you will get arrested and charged for it, so it's not allowed then?
I guess it means no one would intervene to stop you, and it would not invalidate your win/your prize money.
Participants can pay 10 million roubles to take part, around $165,000
Only 165k to get raped and killed in the woods? That's a steal!
So it's allowed but you will get arrested and charged for it, so it's not allowed then?
"We want you to do it for publicity, but we want to be able to say it wasn't our fault."
I guess it means no one would intervene to stop you, and it would not invalidate your win/your prize money.
Yeah and then you go to jail for possibly the rest of your life. I'm sure they'll be able to do a lot with whatever they win. Is it really a "win" if you go to jail directly afterwards?
So it's not allowed then. Allowed would imply that they are okay with you doing it. They're not okay with it if you get arrested for it.
They say "everything is allowed," and I imagine that just means that you won't be disqualified for anything you do. Of course some actions are still punishable by law.
They say "everything is allowed," and I imagine that just means that you won't be disqualified for anything you do. Of course some actions are still punishable by law.
I feel like going to jail is basically disqualification on its own. Especially if you then get arrested and don't even get to finish the game.
I'd watch it, sounds a lot more interesting than the usual reality tv garbage.
I feel like going to jail is basically disqualification on its own. Especially if you then get arrested and don't even get to finish the game.
what if you don't get arrested? GAME NEVER ENDS
Well, this is it. Humanity has finally made Series 7: The Contenders a real thing. How depressing.
How is this depressing? People pay to see speedboat races where the chances of dying are the same.
I feel like this whole "murder is allowed" thing is purely for publicity purposes. If they're only taking mentally sane people, no one's going to kill or rape anyone knowing that they'd go to jail then even if they win, so it's probably just going to be about wilderness survival and that's it.
I am going to wake up any moment now...
Contestants must be at least 18 and 'mentally sane'

'everything is allowed' including 'rape' and 'murder'
This isn't sane at all.
I feel like this whole "murder is allowed" thing is purely for publicity purposes. When you think about, it souds like entire premise is a stunt to gain attention of alot of Bears... 30 yummy people in Taiga, better than honey, come eat them any time.
How is this depressing? People pay to see speedboat races where the chances of dying are the same.
Speedboat races don't encourage murder
How is this depressing? People pay to see speedboat races where the chances of dying are the same.
People don't actively try to murder eachother in speedboat races though.
this doesn't seem like hunger games to me, they aren't forcing people to kill each other. the stated goal is to survive until april. murder and rape are not required.
"We want you to do it for publicity, but we want to be able to say it wasn't our fault."
Yeah fuck that.
I feel like this whole "murder is allowed" thing is purely for publicity purposes. This is goign to be one of that kind of a thread where my or Simkas's comments on regard of populist nature of this stunt, people will actually perceive this is encouragement for murder.
saying "everything is allowed" is not encouraging people to kill eachother
People don't actively try to murder eachother in speedboat races though.
not yet, but I think there's a market there
I feel like it'd be way more interesting and more like hunger games if they just had paintball guns to shoot each other with or something.
