Leaks indicate that a new Duke3D episode is coming Hail to the King, Baby! Site features a countdown time, approx. Friday 2 September EDT There's now a Duke Nukem twitter, our friend Randy from Gearbox is bitching with it https://www.twitter.com/dukenukemgame
Gonna have to be a hell of an announcement to ever redeem Forever.
I bet Burch wrote for this, and Gearbox is gonna bar any mention of him outside of the credits. Oh boy, the Meme Machine reigns supreme.
I bet Burch wrote for this, and Gearbox is gonna bar any mention of him outside of the credits. Oh boy, the Meme Machine reigns supreme.
Anthony Burch hasn't worked at Gearbox for a while now.
Anthony Burch hasn't worked at Gearbox for a while now.
I'm assuming that this game has been in development for a while now, some time before Burch leaving, so it's entirely possible that he wrote for the game before leaving. It's definitely a shot in the dark but the same thing happened with Battleborn, so anything's possible.
Anyone else getting a "Sorry, you cannot view this at this time" page or is it just me?
Isn't that just the rumored DN3D re-re-release by Gearbox, you know, the reason why it was pulled down from GOG and stuff ?

Hell, could have been one of the reasons he left.
one would hope the announcement is that it is now free and open source
Fucking roasted
I don't see why you guys are so quick to dismiss. Yeah Duke Nukem Forever was a pretty big let-down, but I'm actually pretty excited to see what they have. I have a feeling it'll actually be pretty damn cool.
I can't wait for it to be a slot machine.

There's no reason to believe he worked on it at all besides him happeing to have worked for Gearbox a decent amount of time ago.
The disappointment of DNF aside, if it bothers Randy Pitchford then it's already got my seal of approval. Just hope it ends up being decent.
Duke Nukem is a dumb series nowadays. The overly macho manly man misogynist thing really is too dated. Young people don't really get it and the Genre of shooter that Duke Nukem fit into really isn't fun anymore
Burch didn't write Battleborn and I found the writing for that game to be just as fucking atrocious as Borderlands 2.
ftfy Really though the speculation of "oh no they hired Anthony Burch again / Anthony wrote this in secret" is absolutely fucking baseless because there is nothing that indicates so.
It's probably just gonna be the re-release of Megaton edition since Gearbox pulled it from steam and gog
It certainly has to be; would be surprised if it was actually a newly developed game.

I know the character is completely idiotic but I have plenty of fun pretending otherwise.
Unless the announcement is 'sorry, we fucked up', I'm not interested
I'm guessing it's some kind of remaster or re-release or something like that.
The time to reboot old classics is making its return. Wolfenstein and Doom were both great modern re-imaginations. I hope Duke gets a similar treatment.

Duke 3D is pretty much what the franchise is known for best, and the formula is really different to anything today. It worked with DOOM for id, but gearbox just doesn't have the history with the IP and I'm not sure they could do it in good faith.

Duke Nukem is such a relic that I genuinely doubt the character has any worth or value for future use. 3D was a great game with quirky humor. 1 and 2 were decent ultra-primitive DOS platformers. Modern Duke is flanderized out of control. DNF oozed Gearbox. You can tell because Gearbox's way of handling story or character personality is like being beaten in the face with a stick.
just release the 2001 version of DNF and ill be happy
Duke Nukem 3D is still one of the most fun shooters I can think of, but sadly we're never gonna see games like that made by AAA devs so I'm pretty glad they're probably gonna let Duke rest after the flop Forever was
Leaks indicate it's going to be an expansion to Duke Nukem 3D. Some images can be found here: http://boards.4chan.org/v/thread/349675976 The maps look great IMO. You can do lots of nifty stuff with the Build engine, and this looks to be top of the line quality.
Honestly, with the Eduke32 creator back on board with the project I'm only really worried about the one-liners. They are by far the hardest aspect to get right these days without delving into dated memes and shit. Though if they didn't change anything about the menu you can just turn the Duke-talk off if it's too annoying.
my favorite thing about DNF is its average player base is about as old as its development cycle took
Maybe Duke will be PC now.
Maybe Duke will be PC now.
Judging from the tweets, quite the opposite actually.
