Way back when, in the mists of my early 90's youth, films were as a matter of course not released in my little backwater country of Ireland at the same day as the rest of the world. Over time however this problem was cured, and there was much rejoicing. We generally got to sit down to our new releases at least on the same week as our decendants across the water did.
However in the last 6 months two titles that I was rather looking forward to have been curiously absent from my theatre, only for me to discover their release was not until quite some time after the rest of the world. One was Cowboys & Aliens, due to be released here 20 days after the US release. This lack of Olivia Wilde is mildly annoying.
The more terrible of the crimes is the wait for Super 8, whose delay between US and EU release is closer to two months. This lack of JJ Abrahms is most unwelcome.
So my question to you is Why have the studios gone backwards in time. At a time when piracy is the "Biggest threat to the film industry ever ever" what makes the distributors think that I will wait for them rather than simply going into my browser, going to a certain site and saving myself two months waiting and the price of admission?
Because they know you'll post about it on Facepunch and get banned for speaking of piracy?
Seriously though, sucks you don't get Super 8, one of the best Scifis I've seen recently.
Olivia Wilde has a gigantic fucking forehead that takes up 3/4 of the cinema screen, you are not missing out on much.
I love it when it's realeased everywhere on the same day.
Being ahead of time in Australia we are the second country in the world to recieve films. :v:
Harry Potter midnight screening before England fuck yeah!
Also that sucks OP. I could understand maybe a weeks delay but months on end is just taking things way too far.
