75-90% off Duke Nukem 1+2, Duke Nukem 3D, Balls of Steel, Manhattan Project. The Duke. Men want to be him, women want to be with him. The manliest of men, the ultimate male role model. He's been kicking ass on GOG.com for years, but on December 31 2015, Duke has to step out to get more bubble gum. On that day, all Duke Nukem games on GOG.com will be removed from our catalog, but we are in talks with the new rightsholders to bring them back as swiftly as possible. That's why we bid you a farewell for now, Duke: with every Duke Nukem game at 90% off as a bundle, or -75% individually. The Duke's humble beginnings lie with Duke Nukem 1 + 2, two explosively cool run-n-gun platformers where Duke kicks his very first alien ass, travels in time, and authors "Why I'm SO Great" - a retrospective and autobiography. All in the year 1997, a dystopian near-future. Years later, on January 29, 1996, our time: Duke makes history. Total meltdown follows the release of Duke Nukem 3Din which we finally see the world through the man's eyes. It's a world of pornography, violence, and candid obscenity. Duke's world. And we are entranced. By the campy risque, and by the unadulterated joy of Duke's violent adventures and one-liners. Then, for years Duke rides the hype-train: in 1997, we behold his Balls of Steel - a pinball game warmly welcomed for its smooth, realistic physics and plenty of Duke on the side. In the year 2002, Duke goes back to basics in Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project, a modern 3D sidescrolling platformer that's nothing if not a fun and mindless pleasure. This is not where the Duke Nukem legacy ends, but it is where we part ways - for now. So Farewell, Duke! The sale will last until December 31, 10:59 AM GMT. The games will be removed from sale soon thereafter, but they will not disappear from your shelf if you're an owner. Come get some. Last chance to get Dragonsphere for free. With the start of the new year, Dragonshpere will no longer be a free game on GOG.com due to new publisher agreements. If you haven't claimed a copy for yourself, make sure to do so by December 31, 22:59 PM GMT - afterwards the game will be regularly priced at $5.99. If you haven't yet, you can also check out our catalog of gaming freebies, where you'll find classics like Beneath a Steel Sky, Biomenace, Ultima IV and ten more!
http://www.gog.com/news/weekly_staff_picks_farewell_for_now_duke Fuck you Gearbox.
They'll be back eventually. The Fallout series was taken down for a while before appearing again.
They'll be back eventually. The Fallout series was taken down for a while before appearing again.
But for how long. It took a lot of years to have Bethesda join GOG.
Fuck you Gearbox.
Gearbox isn't pulling the games, though. They're just being removed because the people who did put the games on there (3DRealms/Apogee) don't have the rights anymore. They even state they're in talks with the current rights holders (Gearbox) to bring the games back.
But for how long. It took a lot of years to have Bethesda join GOG.
Fallout was removed from GoG at the end of 2013 but added back in August of 2014, I doubt Duke will be gone for long. Just however long it takes to negotiate a new deal.

Whoops read the date wrong, either way under two years isn't that long.
Atleast GOG warns users before they remove a certain game for good. Steam just removes the crap without any notice. I am still mad that I never had the chance to buy SEGA Rally Revo.
I thought from the headline GoG was shutting down and I was a bit scared for a moment there. Shame about Duke but whatever, it'll come back eventually. Though I doubt we'll get a new game out of Duke Nukem under the current internet culture, not so sure that's a bad thing though.
I am the manliest of men.

Dragonsphere is going to be a paid game as well? Damn, I just made a video about that game saying it was free on GOG. That's lame.
Dragonsphere is going to be a paid game as well? Damn, I just made a video about that game saying it was free on GOG. That's lame.
Yeah, after watching the review I wanted to play the game, but then I saw that news on GoG
Yeah, after watching the review I wanted to play the game, but then I saw that news on GoG
Well as long as it's registered on your account by the 31st you can keep it. It's still a bummer. (I'm kinda worried that I might have caused this because it's suspiciously soon after my video.) EDIT: Well that clears that up.
i dont have a source but i heard back in mid december that they may be pulling down the 3d realms anthology/older duke titles from steam as well as soon as it hits january idk how these things work but i hope these things stick around in steam library rather than getting completely nuked
They'll stay in your library.

I had two, but sent one to JohnnyMo1, since he had it on his wishlist, despite it disappearing.

You can still buy Shattered Horizon for 4€ on Keystores. However, imagine there is this awesome game nobody cares about and you want to buy it. It's on your wishlist for years and suddenly they remove it. You have no chance to ever purchase that game because nobody bought it to store it in their inventory and not a single keystore is having the game on sale anymore. If Steam would warn you a week before they remove the game, you would have had the chance to buy the game.
It was pretty cool when Fallout was being removed from GOG, and Interplay, or who ever had the rights then, gave all the classic games for free. Brilliant games to this day.
