• Driving inadequacy; why is it so hard for people to pay attention?

Today while leaving a gas station I was stuck waiting behind a PT Cruiser whose single occupant was shuffling with something in her passenger seat. To my left was a gas pump, behind me was a Prius and to my right was a line of parked cars. The closest of the parked cars was a dual cab f-350. An overweight man wearing bermuda shorts and a tank top passed between the PT and my bumper, climbed into the cab, fired it up, tossed it in reverse and started to back up. What the fuck? Here I am sitting less than 2 feet from his trailer hitch and this fucker is backing right the fuck up even though he'd seen me stuck there less than 30 seconds previously. The PT rolled forward and I dumped my clutch and slipped out of the way just in time. I caught my breath as I pulled right into the left turn lane to exit the parking lot. He came rolling up into the lane next to me, stuck his head out the window, his walmart shades slipping down the end of his fat nose, and said, "THAT'S A GREAT WAY TO GET THAT THING SMASHED". I was left speechless by his comment. There I was, stuck behind his truck, and when he attempted to back into me it was MY fault? Oh HELL no. It's times like these that I draw a blank on what to say to someone so stupid. I felt that anything I might say might be too much for his pathetically small brain to handle. A surge of small dick jokes rampaged through my head, but I controlled myself and allowed them to exit via the middle finger on my right hand, to which he drew his head back into the cab. This is just one of many circumstances that leave me baffled as to how people can be so unobservant. I've been driving for 2 years and not once have I had an accident, been pulled over, or even bumped something with my car. In many situations I've come close to having bad things happen, but they were easily avoided simply because I had my eyes on the road. Why can't people learn to pay attention? Are they so self absorbed in the actions of their pathetic everyday lives that they can't stop and pay attention to the road for the 20 minutes it takes them to drive from point a to point b? How hard is it to use your turn signals and mirrors. For the rest of you facepunchers with a set of wheels, what irks you the most out of the things your fellow drivers do?
Was he blocked in?
people are stupid, get over it
Shoulda followed him and keyed his shit.
ehh, never mind
Recently I pulled in front of someone with a large gap of space and I was driving the opposite way and the person did the little finger gesture saying 'Naughty'. Which brings up the point that people have terrible depth perception as well.
Also I saw someone literally almost die on the road trying to overtake a street sweeper, what compels people to do that...
I can't drive yet, these threads always make me feel inadequate :C
Well that's because you are.
This is why I want robots that drive or computers. They do it a million times more effective and dangerous situations can be avoided.

What we need is a driver's test that actually shows if a person is adept enough to handle their car correctly.
smash window and floor it
There goes my fun of autocrossing on the weekends. It's too many by today already. We could save millions :3:
I was at target, getting into my car when a lady quiet literally smashed right into the back of my car. She was talking and drinking coffee (judging by the ruined cellphone and coffee on her shirt when she got out). I don't know what the hell she was thinking but after she hit me, she got out and screamed at me that I ruined her bumper. Fuck the what?
This is why I believe you should take annual tests to raise children, vote, and drive.
this is why I hate gas stations/crowded places such as shopping parking lots there's always someone who's in a hurry or not paying attention [editline]9th May 2011[/editline]
I was at target, getting into my car when a lady quiet literally smashed right into the back of my car.
[img_thumb]http://imgkk.com/i/vual.jpg[/img_thumb]
Now you're thinking with portals!
Worth the few years until they take over
maybe, as long as its not run on windows my os crashing is bad enough get it??? :v: :suicide:
you should've dumped her coffee on her
She already dumped it on herself. I don't know what she was thinking. I'd like to note that I was not moving, I was getting into a parked car, well inside the parking space. It's like she turned to park where I was. I pretty much got yelled at by her, and after talking with the police (and insurance), they decided to buy my car for 4000$ (If your wondering, insurance companies sometimes 'buy off' people by buying their damaged cars for inflated prices if their customers was at fault and no one was hurt. It's cheaper than going to court). I bought the car for 1500$ at an auction and it was going to the scrapyard anyway so I was like fuck yea. Still unhappy that I got hit though

I don't believe you. Who the fuck remember exactly what type of cars were around them at all times, especially since they didn't all directly relate to the story.
I don't believe you. Who the fuck remember exactly what type of cars were around them at all times, especially since they didn't all directly relate to the story.
someone who pays attention ie a good driver ie not you ie you suck at driving
maybe, as long as its not run on windows my os crashing is bad enough get it??? :v: :suicide:
Maybe the windows will be easier to operate... Oh god, thats a crappy joke.
Alot of people around my area suck ass at driving, especially in snow. I always see several cars on the side of the road when it snows
almost everybody at my school texts and drives. kind if irrelevant, but whatever. sometimes i'll be in a car with them and they'll pull out a phone and i'll want to smash their face in.
Car accidents only happen because of dumbasses. They should make cars that detect if the driver is a douche and then turn off the airbags
