I always find myself alternating in which I say, and was wondering what the people who live there actually prefer so I can use it. If there is another, please specify.
Okay. What was the point of this thread?
FYI, England is not in the same category as Great Britain and UK. There are 3 other countries here too you know. That's about the only gripe I have. I don't care if you call me British or if you use Great Britain or United Kingdom. Just don't call me English. =)
I think this belongs in the Help section. Woah. My post count is 666. I shall never post again. I will just edit all my posts! I'm gonna go post now.

Great britain is a landmass. England is part of the United Kingdom. U.K is England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales.
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland encompasses the most of the three. As its full name suggests, it includes Northern Ireland in addition to Great Britain. Great Britain is composed of three areas: England, Scotland, and Wales. As for England, it is the largest and most populous portion of the United Kingdom.

Every moment spent south of the border reminds me how lucky I am to live in Scotland.
Too true, brother.
I always refer to myself as British.
Great Britains classify themselves as solely Europeans because the realise that everyone hates them just as much as America.
Great Britains classify themselves as solely Europeans because the realise that everyone hates them just as much as America.
You're an idiot. I was born in England, I call myself English. When I'm talking about Europe, and matters related to the European Union. I'm British. It's all in the context.
:911: god bless.
Great Britains classify themselves as solely Europeans because the realise that everyone hates them just as much as America.
I've never said this...
UK. It's so annoying when people refer to the whole of the UK as England.
I'd call myself a Brit. Not an Englishman, that sounds kind of douchey.
England is the largest and most populous of 2 countries, and a principality, which together make up Great Britain. (England and Scotland are countries, Wales is a principality.) Great Britain with Northern Ireland forms the United Kingdom. And then you have all the overseas territories as well.
United Kingdom also includes our Worldwide land holdings, like the Falkland Islands and Gibraltar. As mentioned, Great Britain is just the Main Landmass comprising of England, Scotland, and Wales, and the guy above me cleared up their relationship as Countries. For the most part though, we say we're from the U.K., but refer to ourselves as British. (except the Scots make a point to call themselves Scottish, but if you want to know why, watch Braveheart again. And imagine that behaviour for 1000 years.) If you're really interested, The U.K. as we know it may very well fall apart soon - The Scottish are debating a move for Independence.
Great Britains classify themselves as solely Europeans because the realise that everyone hates them just as much as America.
No. That's 100% wrong.
I am quite proud to call myself; ENGLISH. When the choice of nationality is either English or UK I choose English. United Kingdomish? nope, doesnt work.
Classify them as hooligans.
I drink tea. I'm British.
I've seen many Russians refer to it as simply England :smug: Edit: Now that I think about it most Estonians that I know refer to it as England too
