Where did you see the prices?
Jeez, I wish I had toys like THAT as a kid. If I had kids this alone would convince me to buy them a Switch.

this look dope as fuck. It's so Nintendo.
[t]https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/307152486454788096/403308780533841921/unknown.png[/t] ...That's crazy expensive for just cardboard DIYs and some minigames.
Oh my god that robot one looks incredible
Nintendo is the only company on the planet that could sell literal cardboard to people as a console accessory, and have them eat it up.

The fact that it's still expensive as fuck negates the whole point of it being made out of cardboard.
This is a great thing for Nintendo, not just because kids might enjoy it, but because now they're properly going after the family market again like they did with the Wii. They're really pushing hard for a big second year.
Toy-Con is a pretty cute pun.
This actually seems like something really great for kids along with their parents as an alternative to just mindlessly playing a game - going through and actually creating these modules and coloring them can really help develop their creativity. As a lazy adult with little time on their hands though, this seems like it would be a very niche product.
Use your own cardboard?
yeah let me just go get my substrate printer and cnc machine powered up
Don't forget that those games also come with it. It's not just cardboards as people here claim. We don't know how much those games offer.
Don't forget that those games also come with it. It's not just cardboards as people here claim. As long as the time one can get out of these games is equivalent to the time one would get out of a normal game, and the cardboard is heavy-duty and resilient, I don't have a huge issue with this being $70. I just hope that they don't translate that from $1->£1, like manufacturers and devs have increasingly been doing...
Don't forget that those games also come with it. It's not just cardboards as people here claim. We don't know how much those games offer.
yeah I feel people are really missing the point that it's a handful of craft projects ready to build out of the box, engineered to be a fun and relatively easy project for kids and their parents if they're helping, while being a durable toy set that interacts with the games and system pieces in quite a few active and inventive ways. Like lego sells $200 shoe boxes full of loose plastic and people aren't this reductive about the value of the toy as a hobby and creative experience [editline]e[/editline] The $69 kit is this, not just a single project/minigame, though the robo is about as much cardboard on its own. Microsoft: We are going to give you the best graphics you have ever seen. Sony: We are going to give you the best stories you have ever heard. Nintendo: HERE'S A CARDBOARD BOX!
It feels like it's simply a creative version of Nintendo Wii accessories.
This is probably part of the strategy for Nintendo getting to 20 million Switch sales this year.
Honestly, cardboard doesn't seem like a bad idea, given how many of those silly wii attachments I've seen at secondhand stores and yard sales

Did you look at any marketing of that? In videos, trailers "gameplay", it's mostly just adults.
Honestly, cardboard doesn't seem like a bad idea, given how many of those silly wii attachments I've seen at secondhand stores and yard sales
Not only is it easier to dispose of (or presumably disassemble/reassemble), it's also better for the environment and cheaper too.
yeah let me just go get my substrate printer and cnc machine powered up
Knife, ruler and something to draw with I'd do that shit :v:
I actually really really love the idea of this, and I'd love to see a similar concept done for VR games Instead of an expensive plastic gun to slot your controller into, a cheap cardboard kit that you put together yourself can accomplish the same thing Though, the price for Labo does seem to be a bit much
where the hell am I gonna safely put a cardboard robot suit once it's assembled
This would be less of a issue for me if it would support more games but ehh... Yeah you fold the cardboard, you got your thing and you can play a most likely very simple mini game on it that get's you bored within minutes, you are also left with bulky cardboxes that you probably can't unfold considering something probably needs to be pasted/taped. I'd be cooler if they were sold separate for like 5$ to max 20$ and the software is something you could buy/get from the Nintendo Store, along with a game maker perhaps to make your own games?
