Been racing for quite a while now, thought I'd post a video here. Not sure if it's that interesting to watch but why not.

Oh cool, is that like a track day? What are you driving?

95' E36 chassis
M3 3L S50B30 engine
All bodyparts are fiberglass
All in all, too much modifications work to list down.
There's pretty munch nothing original left of the car.
Also yeah this was a trackday, I go to most of them to practice for races.
Sweet E36! Is it giving you any headaches? :v:
Nice machine, dude! Fun to watch it race!
uhhhhh that e36
mmmm
Sweet E36! Is it giving you any headaches? :v:
Not any more then you'd expect from a race car :v:
Very cool e36 man! what is your suspension setup?
I myself drive a supercharged, m54 swapped compact. Wish i had an S50 though, them itb's.
Sick run, only place I could find a second or two would be between Hunzerug and Scheivlak, but that section has killed two guys in the last 35 years so I wouldn't want you to press you luck. Keep it up man!
Nice short shifter ;) Keep up the good work, these videos are always great

This run was timed at 2:05, I've driven 2:02 after this and am planning on diving beneath 2:00! However the last bit is going to be pretty difficult.
Also I have LOADS of seconds that are wasted, I drive really relaxed. Meaning that there's like 1 or 2 seconds between accelerating and braking. Cutting that away could get me even more time.

Thanks!
Running on a fairly used up KW system, all hardend bushes and aluminium frameworks. (Not sure how to call it in english. I think wishbone?)
Actually hoping to get a good Intrax system sometime next year
I am super jelly. Zandvoort is one of my favorite tracks to drive in racing sims.

Get me sub 1:55 run in the next month I demand it.

Heh I wish, that timing will put you in the Supersport class, those cars usually come with entire pit crews/teams/trucks ect. A car like that will cost you about 75-125k to start with.

Might also be funny to post my very first video, it was like my 3rd time on track EVER. Since then this hobby [sp]addiction[/sp] escalated beyond control :v:

dog sawyer bitch that car cant beat minez
Little update :
Had some fun at the track today, outraced some expensive cars and broke personal records. Best thing is there are so many people videotaping and photographing everything you get some really sweet pictures.

I did improve my time, my fastest lap is now 2:02
This winter the following upgrades are being done
-Improved oil distribution, modifiyng the carterpan and the top part of the engine (not sure what the english term is)
-Improving fuel pumps, adding a second failsafe fuelpump. Some corners are so intense that because of the G forced the fuel can't reach the pumps, therefor making the engine stutter.
-Lightweight flywheel, pressuregroup and plates (Cinterplaat)
-New transmission with a tighter quick-shift
-MORE WEIGHT REDUCTION!
-Adjusting the computer programming, all in all would add about 30bhp. with a new rev limiter at 8300.
-Some more minor things.
Anyway, I'll get sub 2:00 that's for sure!
Little update for those who care :v:
Did all the mentioned upgrades. Had some fun at the track yesterday. Still getting used to the power increase. However my tires were pretty bad. (Read fucking schredded)

But I did have some fun with a radical!

Did you get sub 2:00?
That's awesome! If you want something to cringe over, check out my first ever time on a race track :v:
I was supposed to chase the S15 to record some action, but it was way faster than my car. Plus I'm all over the place!
Did you get sub 2:00?
Didn't get sub 2:00 yesterday. It was the first day driving the car after having done so much modifications. So it was more about seeing how it did. When I went on track to really drive at pace I noticed the tires were already slightly fucked and that once corner just killed whatever was left in the tires. Better luck next time!
I'll be switching to 18inch slicks (17 now). They are (much) cheaper and for obvious reasons give more grip.

Hey I know that S15, didn't you make the design for it?
[editline]15th February 2016[/editline]
p.s. it's not like you want to see my first time on the track either. It was horrifying.

Yeah that's right. This is an old clip though, it looks way different now. Back then, it had a 420 hp SR20DET, now it has a 750 hp 2JZ-GTE

Coming from somebody who knows next to nothing about racing, where can I start to get a grip on understanding how this stuff works?
I'd love to get into track racing as a hobby when I get a job. Just wouldn't know how to start. Do you guys do your own work on your vehicles?
On of the first things should be to watch this video:

It's a bit lengthy, but it gives you quite a nice understanding of basic principles of racing.
As for the trackdays, I'd start with the car you already own and just attend some of the trackdays.
Another good way to get yourself acquainted with racing is to try some racing simulations which are basically racing games with realistic physics. You'd need a decent steering wheel though.
There is a simracing thread in General Games Discussion which can get you started on simracing.

I started knowing nothing, I got hooked when a friend asked me to join him on a testing day. Since then I knew I wanted to day. So I did the most sensible thing you could do.
I bought a beater BMW :v:

My first time on the track was fucking awful, a miracle I didn't kill myself really.
My advice is, try do get to race a semi-decent racecar first. Just try to get that experience somewhere. I say this because a lot of people think it's awesome, but don't consider the fact that they might be scared shitless. For example I bought the mentioned beater BMW together with a buddy who thought it would be sweet to race. After the first time he drove on track he simply said it was too scary and he'd get himself killed. (This is from someone who does all kinds of sports, snowboarding, para-jumping, ect)
If you still think you want to race after the first experience, then I'm very sorry for you. Because that effectively means the end of A. Free time and B. Money. (All of it). But hey, you're pursuing your dream [sp]addiction[/sp] like me :v:
On a serious note, buy a simple car. Get seat time, record yourself, analyse it and learn more about lines. After that get some good books on the more advanced stuff. After this point you should have enough experience that you'll naturally know what to dive into next.
If you got any other questions you can always hit me up, I'm not an expert by any means. I can only share what I know:)
Cool, I'll look into the video when I get home. Thanks! I'd love to take my car up to a track to get a feel for it but my current vehicle is a Saab and its not something I'm willing to put that kind of wear and tear on - I plan on buying a beater for general fuckaroundery when I graduate and make income, so I'll probably try my first hands on experience then and see if it's something I like.
As for being scared to death, yeah, that might put me off. Videos are always totally different than actually doing.
Again, when I get some income I'll have to invest in a nice sim wheel because that's something I've wanted for a while, too. Thank you for the help/info!
First race of the season! (Also my first official race on actual dry conditions)
Started 6th, dropped to 16 in the first corner due to a spun out car and finished 2nd.

Some notable events
-0:20 Car spinning out dropping me to 16th place
-1:10 Car to my right driving into me
-14:54 Almost getting run off the track
-15:56 Rear tires telling me they're done
Other then that was really fun!
For some odd reason with those camera placements, it reminds me of Need For Speed.
Awesome video man!
Does it ever gets messy controlling traction in the corners?
Does it ever gets messy controlling traction in the corners?
Well you get a feel for the tires pretty fast, so you know how far you can push them without them losing their grip. But I did have some pretty terrible tires that day, old Dunlop.s (I always buy my slicks used, because I can't afford to drop a set of new tires each race (a set costing about 1500 euro).
But the set I used had way too much heat cycles on them, and just wouldn't get up to the right temperature. But there's no way of knowing that beforehand when buying used slicks.
