The shots come courtesy of Russian site GamesManiac, who refer to the game simply as Thief. Series hero Garrett returns to the Gothic, industrial metropolis known simply as the City to steal any and everything that will make him richer. Unfortunately, the City is broiling with social tension as it is ravaged by a plague and lorded over by a political tyrant known as the Baron. In order to survive his adventures, Garrett will have to pay attention to his environment and make use of the may possible paths through each of the game’s levels.
Here's more, as well as the pictures that leaked. Glad they changed the name so it doesn't have that stupid number in the middle. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/03/05/thief-4-screenshots/ So excited for this, it's been too long.
I have three categories for games: Games that do not interest me. Games do interest me but I will only get on sale. Games that I'm hyped for that I will preorder as soon as possible. Only 4 games in the past 3 years have ever landed in category three. Thief 4 is one of them.
Here's some screenies from the original article [t]http://media.pcgamer.com/files/2013/03/Thief-5.jpg[/t] [t]http://media.pcgamer.com/files/2013/03/Thief-6.jpg[/t] [t]http://media.pcgamer.com/files/2013/03/Thief-10.jpg[/t]

Are they going to have the same guy do Garrett's voice again? I loved his monologues in mission briefings and his snide comments he makes throughout the gameplay.
I've getting mad Dishonored vibes from the Imperial German themes.
Awesome. I love the Thief series. Have been looking forward to this, and yeah Thi4f really didn't make sense as a title.
I've getting mad Dishonored vibes from the Imperial German themes.
FYI: Dishonored or Dark Messiah was inspired by Thief series.
I hope they've kept the same art style for the cut scenes.
With the GameInformer article coming soon, hopefully we'll find some more details regarding the cutscenes, voice actors and more screenies. Here's the cover of the next issue: [t]http://media1.gameinformer.com/imagefeed/featured/square-enix/eidosmontreal/thief4/cover-reveal6654321/coverfull.jpg[/t] Suggests that Garrett might be a bit more nimble, maybe we'll see a return of the climbing gloves. Hope not, the rope/vine arrows need to come back
Are they going to have the same guy do Garrett's voice again? He's still in the voice acting business, because he did voice acting for Skyrim (belethor, anyone?)
So am I, namely
The whole plague idea really gives off Dishonoured vibes, but the ruling tyrant idea I guess has already been done to an extent in Thief 2 with Sheriff Truart.
Liked Thief 1 & 2, didn't much care for the 3rd. Doesn't look like this will go back to the roots with nice dark open levels and awesome music made by Mr. Brosius.
I hope they don't go too overboard with the 'steam' part of 'steampunk'. I really loved the balance of the first games, but that hi-tech composite bow grinds my gears in the wrong way.
The whole plague idea really gives off Dishonoured vibes, but the ruling tyrant idea I guess has already been done to an extent in Thief 2 with Sheriff Truart. [editline]5th March 2013[/editline] Tiny snippets of information and a small sneak at some behind the scenes in this video Can't get it to embed argh.

The whole plague idea really gives off Dishonoured vibes, but the ruling tyrant idea I guess has already been done to an extent in Thief 2 with Sheriff Truart.
Truart and City Watch are just henchmen. The true "tyrants" are the Hammerites, though I guess that's debatable. Edit Well they're actually more like stern rulers. There's not really a strong sense of tyranny towards the people in the Thief series.
Truart and City Watch are just henchmen. The true "tyrants" are the Hammerites, though I guess that's debatable.
In Thief 2 it was the Mechanists. If I remember correctly, the Hammerites actually help you out in Thief 2.
In Thief 2 it was the Mechanists. If I remember correctly, the Hammerites actually help you out in Thief 2.
Yeah that's probably correct, it's been a while since I last gave those games a go.
- Garrett views the political chaos as a chance to get rich - Not concerned with being the hero
ohhhh yeah. C'mon Stephen Russell, tell me how you're going to rob the baron blind.
In Thief 2 it was the Mechanists. If I remember correctly, the Hammerites actually help you out in Thief 2.
You're thinking of Thief 1 with the Hammerites assisting you, as they help you take down the [sp]Trickster[/sp] (Might be spoilers to some, so I thought I'd tag it) I forgot about the Mechanists, though they were more so a growing force, less so than the dominating power in the city. Truart had completely control over the growing City Watch, which had begun to make huge crackdowns on crime, as well as expanding it's influence by purchasing the assistance of the Mechanists.
This looks marvelous, I loved Thief so much. Especially Garrett, he's a complete badass, I always loved to stuff my pockets with trinkets and riches.
Since Garrett is confirmed to return, I think the only other character who needs to make a return is Benny.
Whatever happened to Garrett taking on a new apprentice at the end of Thief 3. or at least it was insinuated when Garrett repeated the same words his teacher taught him when he was first beginning.
Since it's just being referred to as 'Thief' now, they might be doing a complete reboot. At least, that's what it implies. Maybe that means we might see more of the Keepers and the Glyph magic as a result, should be interesting to see what direction they take.
While Hitman Absolution and Deus Ex HR were pretty awesome, let's see if Thief3 will be any better of an assassin simulator. [editline]5th March 2013[/editline] Never played Thief 1 nor 2 btw.
It won't because Thief was never about assasination, in fact on the hardest settings you're not allowed to kill anyone
I hope this isn't a extra pretty dumbed down version like every other sequel to a long series seems to be have been the past year.
It won't because Thief was never about assasination, in fact on the hardest settings you're not allowed to kill anyone
I only played the Theif series recently after a steam sale, but I think it's the only game I've ever gone straight to the highest difficulty on, because I felt like it was the proper way to play.
Some nice classic comebacks last and this year.
It won't because Thief was never about assasination, in fact on the hardest settings you're not allowed to kill anyone
Well how much can there be to the actual game if the goal is to sneak through the entire game? And what's the bow for? Surely this new Thief can work like Skyrim in stealth mode?
