going only 22 mph and somehow pulling a wheelie, what a jackass.

A++ officer

I'm pretty sure he was lying when he said he was going 22 at most.
Especially since you can clearly see it hit 30, and during the wheelie I think it gets up to 60-something.
At least he was nice to the cop, that's kind of refreshing.

um, the faster you go, the harder it is to do a wheelie

I can do a wheelie on my bike, and I'd be hitting 2mph tops. :v:

Wow, what a champ. I know a lot of people who'd have the footage would just upload it out of spite. What a feel-good turnout.
Man I wonder how mounted policemen do vs others. Being told off by policemen on horses seems rather intimidating, tbh. And the horses themselves seem well trained and just don't give a fuck about anything

They shit all over the place but are otherwise very effective from what I've seen. They aren't very common in urban areas, so they tend to surprise people. I've seen gangs of chavs and shitlords actually get their act together when confronted by police on horseback when it usually takes a couple of pairs of officers to get the same people under control.
They work really well, and are also refreshing to see. A bit of nature in the city and they can spice up your daily routine a bit. I don't think they're supposed to be coddled, but I frequently see kids being allowed to pet them when they aren't being mounted, it's nice to see.

Wheelies are about torque, not speed.
He hit just over 70 in a 20 and only got told off. What

Read the thread, his speedometer is not calibrated.

Don't need a speedo to tell you're doing well over the 20 mph limit.

Well clydesdales are intimidating as fuck, they're massive in person.
mounted policemen get shit DONE let me tell you. there is virtually no better crowd control apart from a SWAT van than a cop on a big ole ass

A supersport has no problems doing a wheelie at highway speeds.

yeh if you're driving at 60mph and then accelerate hard you'll be able to do a wheelie on a supersport but that doesn't disprove his statement - it'll still be easier to do it at 20

It's funny how they're used for the exact same thing as what they were used for in the past 5000 years - intimidating.

The horse police isn't traffic police - they can't fine people for speeding - they can only if they see someone cross a light or stop sign, or something else which can be proven/objectively witnessed (speeding cannot be, without a radar).
(Someone from the UK, please correct me if I'm wrong, thought this is how it usually is in most of Europe)
I got nothing but respect for horseback officers. Riding a horse as big as that can be challenging enough, and then doing police work while riding is quite a feat.
This officer handled the situation really well. This vid right here should set an example for police and people confronted by them.
These guys are City of London police. City of London is only a square mile.
He basically just told him to fuck off and go and annoy the Metropolitan police instead.
