The Muppets will officially return to prime time with a contemporary, documentary-style show. For the first time ever, the series will explore the Muppets’ personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, break-ups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires—a more adult Muppet show, for kids of all ages. The recent pilot presentation, we’re told, received a standing ovation when it screened for ABC executives a couple weeks ago.

The Muppets, a stealth, late presentation, emerged as an instant favorite when it was filmed a month ago. Described as “a more adult Muppet show,” is has Disney synergy written all over it, incorporating some of the iconic characters owned by the Walt Disney Co.
To those who don't know, one of the people behind the pilot was Bill Prady, who began his career writing for the Muppets, won an Emmy for a Jim Henson Tribute Special and wrote for MuppetVision 3D (which many consider quintessential Muppets). Sure, he may be one of the many creators of the Big Bang Theory, but he began his career with the Muppets and seems to have a lot of experience with them.
Before you all get angry and spout "wocka bazinga" or something like that, know that Prady is only attached to the pilot. The actual showrunner is Bob Kushell, who wrote for many comedy series including the Simpsons, 3rd Rock From the Sun, Malcom in the Middle, Suburgatory and American Dad. Randall Einhorn directed the pilot, best known for his work in the US versions of the Office and Wilfred. Which means, everything considered, this project has a lot going for it. According to the Hollywood Reporter, "producers filmed a pilot presentation for the ABC Studios-produced series that sources say was incredibly well received." A source for that, although a similar statement is in the first quote in this thread.
They better not change it too much

Ohh... Just read further. Kinda like it
So it's going to be kind of like The Office?
I'm still pissed they cancelled Greg the Bunny.
The concept sounds interesting enough and recent TV shows haven't been TOO horrible.
Rate me cautiously optimistic.
They should go with the times and do it in... CGI.

GOOD GOD NO.
Live action Muppets with CGI humans

That removes what makes the Muppets the Muppets.

CGI muppets with puppet humans, nothing is real.
The description sort of makes it sound like that horrific recent looney tunes cartoon, where they all have jobs and houses and girlfriends. It's pretty bad.
I expect the muppets can do better. I hope so at least!

It's not. It's just different from usual Looney Tunes, and from what it's worth, it was done pretty well.
