But seriously, I can see some pretty fucked up shit coming from this

What if they jump on a creeper ? :(
Jens is the new Notch.

Give bone to tame.
Where you see disgust, I see awesomeness in wolves as pets (and the petsystem as a whole)
It's just an animal
aw gotta love their shaking and head tilting
This looks great!
Awesome. I hope wild ones can be unfriendly as well though, we don't have a single 'natural' mob yet.
this will distract me for approximately 5 minutes in singleplayer and then i will go back to whining at notch because smp is still broken.
unless he fixes it in 1.4
which is unlikely
Neat.
I hope there is some way to make them stay put in some place and then be able to call them back to you. I'd hate to be exploring a cave and have him jump ahead of me into a gigantic chasm.

The only thing wrong here is you.
D'awww :3:
I wonder if creepers explode on the wolves. If not, then a pack of wolves could be an effective way of keeping you and your stuff intact. Also, if they attack mobs that you can shoot with arrows, then all the more reason to keep them around.
I thought it was going to dogs. Because all the friendly mobs I have seen so far in Minecraft are domesticated animals.

They look loveable. Good AI.
At least this is a quality update.
The bit where it sat down reminded me of AT-ATs for some reason.

I don't see why this is getting so many dumbs? I thought it was a good answer in response to the animal fuckers/yiff freaks who brought it up in the first place.
Between news posts about earthquakes and entire games being released which has been worked on for years there's a news post about a guy who worked on some wolf pet for a week :v:
Don't get me wrong I love this! It just shows how popular Minecraft is.
It would be nice if you could pull the Dwarf Fortress deal and attach them to a post with a chain in order to produce guard animals. As they are, they are a novelty, but not super useful looking.
At some point they will surely implement werewolves as well. I'm afraid already.

Because to them it's more than an animal, it's something they can argue about.

Jeb already did that and the creeper took out 4 of them. So I am guessing yes they explode.
Aww.. They're so cute! :swoon:
As if I wasn't paranoid enough at sounds of other things walking around me, this will make it worse.
Awesome.
dear notch
makes slimes a neutral mob
give the ability to make them into pets

You must be one of the lucky ones to actually see a slime
They look (and act) very similar to the wolves in Metal Gear Solid for some reason.
All they need now is to open their mouths (with panting) and randomly emit heart shapes into the air while making cute noises and they will be complete
I would enjoy having a pet cat.
It would be adorable to have one around the house.

We've encountered them several times on my server now but they appear to be client side still.
SMP has some issues but it perfectly playable, I don't know what everyone's complaining about.

All thank Peter Molyneux for this feature btw. Notch promised him to add pets when he was at the GDC.
