Forecasters say the low pressure will be the remnants of Hurricane Katia, which has weakened over the Atlantic Ocean since missing the US. Winds will not be hurricane force if they reach the UK, they add. 'Localised flooding'The Met said much of the UK was likely to see gusty conditions throughout the weekend, with the highest winds over northern and western regions. "There's still a fair amount of uncertainty about the track and strength of the winds." He added: "Although it will be very windy everywhere, it is uncertain as to exactly which parts of the country will see the very strongest winds - so we advise everyone to stay up to date with the very latest forecast warnings." He said western coasts were at particular risk from localised flooding, as the predicted high winds could coincide with high tides. At its peak, Katia was rated a category four hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale, which rates them from one to five, five being the strongest. I remember the last time we got hit by the "aftermath of a hurricane". It was horrible, this is what happened: Hope this doesn't happen again.
The U.S doesn't have anything to do with this. It doesn't even look like it'll hit as bad. Good luck.
Its already been windy as fuck where I am. Then again any time bad weather hits the UK my area gets it for a day or so then it passes.

I'm almost at the center of the orange part.
It had better not rain, I don't want my suit to get wet.
I'm in the yellow part, tomorrow should be fun!
I'm in the amber. This is going to be great.
I'm in the amber. This is going to be great.
According to the chart you need to "be prepared". Luckily I only have to be aware that it's happening.
Doesn't look all that threatening
Doesn't look all that threatening
For us british this is the most exciting weather we'll see all year.
For us british this is the most exciting weather we'll see all year.
I got worried when I read the title since my fiance is over in England visiting her family, so am rather relieved now, plus, it won't be in her current area anyways
So it's going to be windy, rainy and cloudy in the UK? That's not news.
Why do people always give storms and hurricanes stupid names? If I were president of the US I'd dub the next hurricane 'Genghis Hurrikhan'
Why do people always give storms and hurricanes stupid names? If I were president of the US I'd dub the next hurricane 'Genghis Hurrikhan'
Or "Hurricane Dicksmasher".
I don't think it dawned on many people in the US that post-US Katia could even hit the rest of the world :v:.
Why do people always give storms and hurricanes stupid names? If I were president of the US I'd dub the next hurricane 'Genghis Hurrikhan'
That would just fuel republican critics into a state of blind criticism, not worth the trouble.

Last time this happened the power went out for 3 days, but then I'm on the west coast of Scotland where it's very exposed.
You're on roll here.
Well, it's pretty simple humor.
We had a code orange in some parts of the Netherlands yesterday with golfball sized hail and shit.
This has been blown out of proportion by miles. The UK Met Office issues orange and red alerts every month, except nobody cares to take any action because quite simply, they aren't important. The Daily Telegraph printed this morning "Hurricane Katia to hit UK" - absolute crap. The remnants of the weather system that hit the East Coast of the US will arrive here yes, but all the way across the Atlantic? I fail to see how that can be classed as a hurricane. More like a slight breeze, in comparison. The OPs source is perfectly correct. As a member of aircrew I'm not really that bothered.
Does the UK even get hurricanes?
