House Intel chairman: Trump's personal communications may have been collected
29 replies, posted
(CNN)House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes said Wednesday that President Donald Trump's personal communications may have been picked up by investigators through "incidental collection."
Nunes said at a news conference he discovered the potential surveillance of Trump himself while reviewing intelligence reports, but said it was not related to Russia.
"This is a normal, incidental collection, based on what I could collect," Nunes said. "This appears to be all legally collected foreign intelligence under" the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.
Nunes said he alerted House Speaker Paul Ryan about the collection and is traveling to the White House Wednesday afternoon.
"I'm actually alarmed by it," Nunes said.
Well, what do you expect to happen when half their fucking campaign staff are foreign agents. Smoke turning to fire.
Yeah, it was fairly obvious that Trump probably got busted because of incidental collection. If you watch the Comey testimony after the big reveal that the FBI is doing an investigation. Nune's first question has Comey explain incidental collection, the legality behind it, and how the FBI handles the information.

Like take a amount to consult the tweet.
The substance of the tweet is did Obama order the wire tap. The answer is no.

The FBI was monitoring foreign agents. Trump's team fell into that net because they were possibly conversing with said foreign agents.
I still find it fascinating that Trump keeps spinning these bombshells as irrefutable proof of a vast left-wing conspiracy against him, when in reality he's just really fucking inept at committing treason.

Trump has the gall to fucking call McCarthyism? Are you fucking serious? Holy shit.

Unfortunately, it seems to work out for him. Just like with "fake news," he takes something terrible that he's relied on for success and pins it on the "enemy" and gives his supporters another thought-terminating cliche to reply with on Facebook.
And now whenever someone says Trump is instigating a return to McCarthyism, they'll just turn to whataboutism and "but the Democrats did it!"

Except Trump's Support has actually Collapsed. It is now 46% in Rassmusian Reports.
Reminder that Devin Nunes was the one during the public congressional hearing constantly trying to discredit the NSA and FBI and insisting that they should be going after the leakers. If his nose were any further up Trump's ass it'd be coming out his mouth.

Consider for a second that Donald Trump's lifelong mentor and family attorney Roy Cohn was literally Joe McCarthy's favorite prosecutor, personal confidant and champion. Yes, the guy who sought (and got) the death penalty for the Rosenbergs. Donald Trump is the man he is because of Roy Cohn, as apprentice to master. Let that sink in for a moment, let the bottomless ocean of Donald Trump's convictionless, mercenary existence just sink in.

The Rosenbergs were not innocent though. They gave the Soviets everything from information and schematics concerning our nuclear arsenal to our radar, sonar, and jet propulsion projects and capabilities. They were absolutely traitors, and they just handed away a shitload of classified material. You can't fault Cohn as far as they're concerned. They were also examples of where McCarthy wasn't wrong: we had in fact been infiltrated by Soviet agents.
The problem with McCarthy was that he eventually got way too out of control and started going after people who had nothing to do with communism or the Soviet Union. The vigilance at the time was an understandable thing however, and I don't think people are as properly educated about this as they should be. It's especially relevant today because we've still got issues with Russian infiltration and subversion against the West occurring.
Otherwise, I get what you're saying.

Overall yeah but he hasn't lost his base of Republicans afaik, and with a Republican government he doesn't have to care what Democratic voters think of him.
so why did he go to the press before going to the rest of the panel...
so why did he go to the press before going to the rest of the panel...
Because he's not trying to help the panel. He even went to the White House to let the administration know what he knows before the press conference. He's picked a side.

Nunes was in fact part of Trump's transition team.
Kind of makes you wonder why he's been against an independent investigation.

it's like the movie "A Beautiful mind" only the main character is a mentally challanged ape and believes that the US government is conspiring against him

There's a zinger about draining swamps in here but I'm tired of those and we are barely two months into this thing.
Nunes hurried to the White House to personally brief Trump on the revelations, after talking to the press but without sharing the information with Democrats. His Democratic counterpart on the committee -- Rep. care to provide a source on your misguided speculation?
there's only one person with a questionable link to russia, and he may not have even had criminal intent

Hope you don't drive with those blinders on. Just one person with a questionable link to Russia? Hilarious.

I was unaware that Rex Tillerson, Paul Manafort, Micheal Flynn, and Carter Page were all the same person

[del]In a weird way I kind of have to admire a statement like yours, it takes a lot of effort to remain this willfully ignorant[/del]
Retrospectively this is a shitty thing to say, but at the same time, it really does genuinely surprise me that you seem to be unaware of the Russian connections to team Trump, especially as a regular user of Facepunch and common sight in sensationalist headlines. They're been a recurring thing on multiple news sites for months, and more often than not those articles wind up here

Space1 is and always has been one of Trump's supporters whose entire intellect has been sucked up into the black hole that is the Trump cult. The only other comparable posters are Ridge, Tudd and Cructo, and even Cructo seems to have been getting better of late. I really had hoped that those who supported the man would've wised up in the months following the election, but that was clearly asking too much.

Here's a weird thing to think about.
What if he knew exactly what McCarthyism is, that's why he said it in that statement, and the statement was more directed at the source he heard it from (in this case Fox News), hence why he brought up that there was "nothing found" while also putting "wires tapped" in quotes?
But given Trump's mastery of the English language I'm inclined to doubt that's what happened.

I mean, given that he and his staffers repeatedly doubled down on the statements in the days that followed, we already know for a fact that's not the case.
