Alright so I'm new to airsoft. I've had some BB guns and airsoft guns in the past but I was really young and never took very good care of them. In order this is what I've had: Pump BB Gun - Got it 6 years ago. Still have it, working condition, very sturdy and powerful. Plastic Airsoft Shotgun - Got it maybe 4 years ago? Can't remember this one very well. It broke when my younger brother took it and started tossing it around like an idiot. It was pretty cheap and not very sturdy but I still liked it. Plastic/Aluminum Airsoft Pistol - Got it 3 years ago, works pretty well but it's missing parts after a long tour of duty (I use it pretty heavily for target practice on squirrels that steal from my bird feeder). It's nice and pretty sturdy with aluminum internals and a plastic housing and clear magazine. The magazine is likely the worst feature because you have to pull a long slide down from the middle to allow BBs to pass from a large storage compartment into the spring system and it often likes to jam or if I let it go too fast it will sling up and push the BBs out of the magazine which makes a mess. So that's all I've had in terms of experience. I've been looking at competitive airsoft and it not only looks like fun but it could be a good hobby for me (I have way too much time). However I'm nervous about getting anything because I don't know if I can just join a team or if there's an organization I have to speak to in order to legally have games. And it's good to mention that I am pretty young at 15, so I guess this is an okay time to start but I'm just not sure how people would react to some kid coming in and trying to join them. Here are my questions (and yes I read the megathread, it's pretty damn big so if I mention something that was already touched on just bare with me): -What's should I do for training to get ready for competitive play? I know some people get really serious when it comes to this and I don't want to find a good group of people and be allowed in then mess up because I don't know how they operate or I can't keep up. Not looking for a work out routine, just good tips for stance and target practice (distance, procedure, goals, etc.) -Do you have any recommended brands or even specific weapons for beginners to practice with? I'm looking for something that's decently priced (nothing above $200), sturdy, low maintenance, and if needed can be modified. This is listed in respective order of importance with price being my number one concern and the modification being my last. I understand that modification ability means more maintenance but what I mean by that is it's pretty compatible with different equipment and accessories like sights, magazines, grips, etc. (basically more rails that work with a lot of stuff) -If I do end up forming a team because I can't find a group that will let me in, how should I go about finding competition? I think I may have mentioned this before but I'll say it again, I'm looking for recreational airsoft, not professional matches with high end opponents who spend upwards of a few g's on their gear so they can be top. I want to play with people who will be fair and want to have a fun game but won't destroy the entire team in ten seconds. And on the other hand I wouldn't want opposition that just walks in with plastic pistols and just rushes everyone then loses in ten seconds. -Are there any good websites for learning airsoft tricks? Things simple that improve effectiveness like fixing simple jams or what not to do in a match or how to pack light and certain gear that's essential or useless. I will likely add to this as I go on but it'll be below this post so you can tell when I add something new. Thank you in advance to anyone who can answer these questions and sorry for being so clueless. EDIT: While looking into this kind of thing I found a rifle that wasn't too expensive and seemed pretty good, however I read the reviews and got mixed feelings. There were only three and two were alright but one gave it the lowest rating and called it out on a lot of stuff and gave it no pros, however this person had problems that none of the other people had so it may have just been defective or broke in shipping. This is it: http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=139_24_482&products_id=11089 Quickie note for above edit: AHA. Tricks are abound, the picture shows the EOTech sight and tactical light being on it, however it has to be purchased separate!

You've gone to such an effort to post this, yet you missed this http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1261250 Literally answers like all of your questions. [editline]18th May 2014[/editline] goddamnit killer
http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1261250 http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1260776
I know the megathread exists, I read it and I still have questions (but I may have missed a bit, I took breaks in between reading) The only reason I didn't post on the questions thread is because my post was going to be pretty damn long and I didn't want to have it buried by a bunch of other questions and have to repost it. Edit:
You've gone to such an effort to post this, yet you missed this
Ditto my reply to killer Edit 2: Okay alright sorry if I'm causing a big deal with this post, but I had some questions and I wanted answers. I didn't want to ask a question in that thread because people were already asking things and I didn't want to interrupt them and have someone answer my question instead of theirs or have the same happen to me, so I felt that a thread would be more effective in getting my questions and concerns across to people. I apologize, however my questions are still here and it'd just be stupid to repost this stuff in the question thread after it was already put here. If an admin didn't look into why I did it I may even get called out for spam or shitposting. Would you guys mind just helping me out here? I mean it isn't a big deal anyway, is it? [editline]18th May 2014[/editline] Alright well this didn't turn out as I expected. I got more people angry that I posted this as a thread rather than advice. No hard feelings though, I'll post this on that questions thread and see how it does. Of course it'll be a bit more skimpy and will just summarize my questions. Sorry again guys. :/
