Radiohead are an alternative band from England. When they first started out they were called On a Friday because it was the only day they could practice on. They then changed their name to Radiohead after a Talking Heads song, "Radio Head" If you haven't checked them out already I think you should go check them out because they really are a great, innovative band. Don't judge all of their stuff based on the song creep though. The band actually hates that song a lot because it thrust them into a "one hit wonder" statis for a while. People in concerts wanted them to play creep and if they did they'd just leave after. But after 6 albums they proved them wrong. Over the years they went from regular alt rock, to a more artsy and electronic style on their album Kid A. If you want to get a first album by them, get the Bends. It's their first great album and it's not too "out there" like the other ones. Unless you wanna dive right into the "out there" and if you do get Kid A. It's a very good album. Actually all of their albums are good. Except for Pablo Honey. It's okay.

I kinda planned doing a Radiohead Megathread for facepunch... I spent 3 days making a Giant Radiohead Picture to put in the thread.
And you stole my light... God...
Oh well, You did a great job. I love Radiohead.
Well I was sort of thinking why we didn't have a thread for this band in a long long time.
I love Radiohead, second favourite band after Muse. What I like about them is their style changes a LOT. In Rainbows sounds pretty much nothing like Pablo Honey and earlier. Is anyone going to see them at Reading or Leeds fest?
Yeah they're one of those "what are they going to do next" bands. Are you gonna see them? Lucky you. Get a sample of Thom Yorke's hair for me please.
Nah, I'm not going to see them unfortunately :(
I don't want to have to sit through the some of the shit there just for Radiohead. I mean, it IS Radiohead but tickets are way too expensive for me.

New Radiohead song available for a quid. The song is called Harry Patch (In Memory Of).

The money goes to the Royal British Legion, so no pirating.
Tickets were expensive but it would be so so worth it.
Radiohead is the most awesome band I have come across in a long while, completely new style of musics for me. Favorite album would have to be OK Computer, Paranoid Android fav song from it.
Also, the Bear!

Fuck yeah i'm stoned and OK computer is amazing

really?
muse is like a poppy radiohead ripoff, to be blunt about it.
i mean i love both bands very much but when it comes down to it... well the truth stands dude.

/facepalm.
I never did understand where this bullshit came from.
Muse's musical style is nothing like Radiohead's, except that they're both alt. rock. The closest they came to eachother would have to be The Bends and Showbiz, and even then they were miles apart. Matt Bellamy's voice is also easily distinguishable from Thom Yorke's (They could probably imitate eachother's singing voices quite well but they don't, so my point still stands).
Sure, Muse might have been influenced by Radiohead but that doesn't mean that they're ripping them off, at all.
Hmmm, I hear a good amount of fuzzy bass in bothh, occasional mumbly singing (Space Dementia, Paranoid Android) Weird instruments (ondes martenot, kaoss pad). Then, there's Harry Patch (In memory of) and whatever Muse's strings piece is called...
The bands have their similarities, but Muse are NOT ripping off Radiohead, is my point
I never said that. :3
I never said that. :3
I know, I was responding to what FoodStuffs said
Didn't you already do that? =\
Yeah but then you responded to my response prompting another response from me, and now look what you've done! :v:
i was just saying their styles are incredibly similar... i would've actually meant that if i had not said i love them both very much
mostly because they do sound VERY alike in most instances but most people i know refuse to admit it for some reason...
no need to get all teary eyed about it
Oh my god! D:
*puts on How to Disappear Completely, proceeds to slit wrists and cry*
i'm not here
this isn't happening :(
who's in a bunker who's in a bunker
Women and children first, and children first, I laugh until my head comes of, I swallow until I burst.
Amnesiac is their best record. This has been one of the major bands to shape my musical taste, I didn't give a fuck about music back in the day, but some years ago my older brother compiled a record with Belle and Sebastian (I love my car), Radiohead (Karma Police), Wilco (Jesus .etc), Bob Dylan (Hey mr Tambourine man), REM (Losing my Religion) and The Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel.
This shaped my musical tastes completely, even if I don't listen to much of this, at the time I was just surprised how good all those songs were, but later on I learned to love Amnesiac a whole lot, and have found a lot of my own taste of music since.
I saw Radiohead last August, and it was by far the most incredible thing I have ever experienced.
I don't know what people see in this band tbh
the bends? more like THE BEST
