its made by the director of insidious and saw like the trailer points out and holy shit have i never been more spooked in my life. This was from the comment section. "Andrea Perron 4 hours ago "The Conjuring" is based on my family story and the case files of Ed & Lorraine Warren. They investigated our haunted house in 1973 and tried to save us from something we couldn't escape. Once the door was opened it could* never be closed. This film is phenomenal. James Wan is a gifted director and has done our story justice. You'll see! This tale will grab you by the throat. Ours is a true story so intense, we waited 30 years to tell it. Andrea Perron, author "House of Darkness House of Light". i found this introduction to the book the person is talking about if anyone is interested. Every horror films: BASED ON A TRUE STORY
even though this looks as generic as it gets it made me feel a little tense
Is this horror or comedy?
Is this horror or comedy?
Horredy
I've never been so afraid of clapping before now. Actually looks promising.
GOD DAMMIT FACEPUNCH, RIGHT BEFORE I WAS GOING TO BED I HAD TO SEE THIS SHIT FUCK
Best horror movie of the year hands down. And one of my favorite horror movies I've seen. The entire movie was fucking tense, and most of the jump scares weren't that bad and were mostly just noises. It is definitely Wan's best film.
This movie was reaaaaaalllly good I liked the character development, the plotline, the scares, and they explained everything at the end. They did make a really creepy film without having to do shock scares constantly.
Definitely want to see this.
The Conjuring is actually a pretty damn good scary movie. It has a ton of good elements from other horror movies that make it really good. Elements i found: The Omen, The Exorcist, The Ring, The Evil Dead, The Shinning and some others i dont remember.

If you're able to look at it and sum it up effectively by saying "it has bits from this, this and this in it" then it's evidently not doing what it's supposed to. You can't be scared if you aren't truly surprised.
This movie made me poo my fucking pants
I made plans to see it with this girl but she went with some other guy. :suicide: Edit: Can't wait to see it though.

This guy actually took the time and made a good scary movie from things from other good scary movies.
saw this today. good movie. great horror film. first actual horror movie to get me scared.

Just using shit from other movies and collating it isn't creating new ways to scare.
going from this thread i want to see it when it goes on netflix now, ive given up on horror movies for a LONG time, realizing that its just the same unscary shit over and over, but this has me quite interested
I meant innovative in how they scare or create tension. There hasnt been a good quality scary movie in years.
Really good movie, saw it a week ago. Kept me really tense and actually was one of those movies to really scare me in a really long time because of the convincing atmosphere. Was really, really, fucking good. <3
I feel like I'm one of the only people who did not care for this movie.
it was somewhat creepy, but i wouldn't say i was scared per se horror movies have never really gotten to me that much because they're usually about ghosts and demons and shit, and i don't really find any of that scary
I feel like I'm one of the only people who did not care for this movie.
Everybody has there own opinion
I really, really enjoyed this movie. Definitely a "rollercoaster"
My first response to seeing ads for this movie were that it looked like garbage, mostly because the ad was a youtube banner ad that was constantly displaying twitter posts like (no joke) "OMG #TheConjuring is so scary" Good to hear people like it though.
I was watching it in a theater and this black guy openly stood up in the middle of the movie and yelled. "Homie don't play dat." Got up and walked out. I almost died laughing.
The first thing I thought of at the end of the trailer was The Clapper. I really want to see this, though.
I saw the movie pretty scary and a good horror film that isn't a piece of shit also it gets my respect. I heard someone got a asthma attack and had to go to the hospital which was true and a ambulance was outside of our local theater. I wonder if there is going to be a sequel since... never mind not gonna spoil it unless someone showed me how to do the grey text highlight. Also some teens from another high school were talking which made people pissed but luckily we got free movie passes and I shit you not I am going to see growing up in the hood 2: learning how to make a movie.
Other than some annoying guy who was farting and snoring loudly the entire movie it was alright.
