Seems a bit lenient for a guy who lied to the teeth to claim it was justified. Still, glad at least he's facing justice and not getting off because of a fancy lawyer or name recognition like a number of other famous people do.
From the article: >Pistorius has already served one year in jail over his previous conviction. He is legally obliged to serve half of his new term before being eligible for parole. Would not be surprised if he gets out earlier for being such a good boy.
What the fuck? How do people get such little time for murdering someone, and someone that gets caught growing marijuana and has never harmed someone can easily get more?

Hope he gets his legs stolen there, guy is a piece of shit.
There was talk before that if Pistorius ever got less than 8 years the state would automatically appeal. I guess we'll see if they actually follow through with that. [editline]8th July 2016[/editline] It's worth remembering that the judge that gave the amended sentence, Thokozile Masipa, is the same judge that originally presided over the case and was on track to initially find him not guilty of murder. I won't comment on if she's on the mark or not - her character doesn't seem to be in question as her colleagues have described her as "respected, competent, eloquent, and reserved" and my understanding is she's received a lot of threats since the trial's begun, I just found it interesting that they got the same judge back in to review his sentence.
Minimum sentence for murder in SA is 15 years but it was reduced because the judge said he showed remorse. Stinks of preferential treatment.
