I converted to Photoshop from Paint.NET and I am utterly confused.
So, is there anything important I need to know/simple basics that can get me started off?
EDIT: Shit, wrong place. Can someone move/close this thread?

Without being a dick:
Window > History, because CTRL Z is shit in photoshop.

Or use CTRL ALT Z
Take some picture and try EVERYTHING on it!
You purchased Photoshop without knowing what to use it for?!

Start with that
Tutorials and tool basics are very helpful, along with just dicking around to figure out what levels, filters, adjustments, and tools are.

I think he "purchased" (Warez'd it , for those who dont get it) it, because, who would buy a 700$ program, without knowing how and what to use it for and if you wanna do some editing, get Gimp before you pay so much money until you need REALLY advanced technologie.
wtf photoshop is $700?
People hate filter rape. Only use Filters when you really have too.
dick around with it man. If you see a button, click it. It is not like win registry where if you fuck up, you end up screwing up the entire computer.
That and there is a reset option to make photoshop reset to factory default if you screw up the options.

That's a pretty expensive gift you've got there. Are you sure, you didn't download it?
Just let it go, goddamn.
All professionals use filters.
why the hell is photoshop $700?
why the hell is photoshop $700?
It is marketed towards bulk purchase for graphics firms and such. It is not really meant for indi art unless you are up to playing for it. I was lucky to get mine because my aunt got an extra copy or two when a worker quit.

The newer ones are expensive, photoshop 7 is basically free.
I have photoshop 7. Are the other ones really that much better?
Yea, basically anything post CS3 is great. PSD Tuts has some good tutorials on how to do stuff, just go through a few interesting and basic tutorials and work on your own stuff. After a while you should be able to implement those techniques as you need them in your own personal style.
My dad works at Remington so I got CS5 for free :smug:

You so cool.
Also, on the topic of filters & pros - Filters are powerful if used right, instead of being used for an image overlay all the time.
Try not to just filter everything,
Magic Eraser is amazing...
Just mess with shit
Go into morphing and just fuck around with it :v:
