apart from it being super dark freeman looks really spot on.
[editline]30th September 2012[/editline]
gordon freeman speaks noooooooo
That was pretty good, but it was kind of confusing until the middle-ish end.
[sp]why did they have gordon talk at the end[/sp]
Gordon is talking
Why is Gordon talking
I have no idea if this is supposed to be taken seriously cause the environment makes no sense at all.
What the fuck is this, costumes were nice though.
It was well designed, just not the best Half-Life fan film.

I thought this was pretty cool, except the part when gordan spoke
Thought it was good should of did it in diff location imo.
Uh so it's taking place outside Black Mesa during/immediately after the Resonance Cascade? When the portal storms start and the world goes to hell?

Are you serious?

Some Black mesa residence sector.
I thought gordon spoke quite nicely.
I'm a tad confused about the setting myself - not the location, but the time.
The resonance cascade goes off and sector C goes to hell during the morning of May 16th, and yet during this fanfilm it appears to be at night. It could be early morning, but the tram ride during both HL1 and Blue Shift clearly shows that it's daylight.
A resonance cascade made this film.
Gordon doesn't speak in game, but that's just a mechanic to make it easier immersing yourself into the character of Gordon. The reactions and thoughts you have, he does. So in a way, he does speak.
I'm ok with him speaking, honestly I've got no issue with people doing that in fan films.
The voice actor was pretty decent.
my only issue is where are they
they're outside, obviously
but it's night, and there are creatures from Xen around
what the hell
At least they attempted to have him hardly talk. I doubt the in game freeman would just ignore someone friendly asking who he is.
no ponytail, 0/10
no ponytail 0/10
bob
Gorden?
Gordon looked good. Talking sort of ruined it
Gorden should of just thrown his nametag at them instead of talking it ruined the whole thing.
How dare you guys.
Neat, They used Romka's HEV suit design for the back.
This is awesome, the guard and Freeman look really good.

It's taking place in the Topside Dormitories. They're a real place at Black Mesa just never featured in the games aside a quick run-past from the outside on a tram I think. Barney lived there.

Not every college film student has access to abandoned industrial plants, considering most are illegal to enter.

It's entirely possible that communication was so badly effected during the incident and the ones that followed that information may not be up-to-date or completely inaccurate. It's demonstrated throughout history that when there is chaos and panic misinformation spreads wildfire and out-dated information continues to pass around for awhile. Look at 9-11 for example. People were saying that there were more planes coming, that the tower never fell, only partially collapsed etc.
So it's entirely possible for it to take place during the night. The Security Guard is still working on outdated orders he received immediately after the cascade to send doctors, going around the dormitories to get them. It may have taken him an hour or two to get there from where ever he was and than, having no access to any updates of the situation does what he was ordered. Assuming it was late in the afternoon it could be dark. This is further reinforced by the fact that in the mission in Half-Life where you launch the rocket, it's night time on the surface indicating quite a bit of time has passed.
The only hole. And I'm just talking about this for the hell of it, I honestly don't give a shit of a fan-video is 'accurate' or not. But the hole I saw was the fact that you never leave Gordon's perspective from the time the cascade happened to the time Gman takes him. So, there is no time for this to happen.
Gordan likes to Freemen

What I got out of it is that the movie depicted a residence sector within black mesa, so its inside but has an outside feeling to it
the reason why its dark is because of the power shortages after the cascade (inside the house), the residence sector is dark because that's where scientist who work on the night shift stay, so they need darkness to sleep maybe?
I don't know but this is cool, I hope they expand on it
I actually liked it even if Gordon talked. What i didnt get is why did they film it in a dark forest?
