Sir Ian McKellan and Sir Patrick Stewart coming back for "X-Men: Days of Future Past"
EXCLUSIVE: Here is a fun scoop for X-Men fans. Bryan Singer, who helmed the first two superb installments that launched the franchise at Fox and whom Deadline was first to reveal will helm X-Men: Days Of Future Past, has just tweeted the following news: “I’d like to officially welcome back James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult to X-Men: Days Of Future Past. Also thrilled to announce Sir Ian Mckellen and Sir Patrick Stewart.”
How is that going to work with the actors playing both Magneto and Professor Xavier, in the same movie with Fassbender and McAvoy, who played those characters as young men in X-Men: First Class? “The movie is called X-Men: Days Of Future Past, use your imagination,” Singer tells me. “More to come,” adds Singer, who happens to be in New Zealand for meetings — just in time to attend the premiere of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. He’s hanging with Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and James Cameron is there, as is the whole Hobbit gang, including McKellen, who’s reprising as Gandalf in the new trilogy. What a lucky guy!
First Singer returning as a director, now this. I'm thrilled for this movie.
Milk the franchise for all its worth Fox...
that name makes no sense.

How you call it milking is beyond me, Days of future past is one of the most popular X-men stories out there.
It may be owned by Disney, but the rights to the characters for different media formats are owned by different companies.
It's why there are no xmen crossovers with other marvel franchises.
How is Fox (the disturber of the media) milking the X-men franchise? Marvel entertainment (owned by Disney since 2009) is the controlling asset of the X-men franchise.
20th Century Fox owns rights for film adaptations to anything connected with X-men.
Sony owns Spiderman, Fox owns Xmen, etcetc.

Hasn't been like that since 2006.

Character rights are a big issue to companies.
DC has been in a huge legal battle for a long time over Superman.
I wonder how it will play out.
I also heard rumours about Famke Janssen reprising her role as Jean Grey/Phoenix in this movie.
I stand corrected, I recalled reading Disney purchased all of Marvel's assets from previous controllers of Marvel franchises, clearly I recalled wrong. Still don't see how it this is milking, there is still much to be told with the X-men franchise.
This isn't milking at all. It's a comic book, there are huge amounts of plot to rifle through. I'm so happy about this, x-men is literally my favorite thing ever. I really hope Storm is in this one. I wish they'd do her origins.
No offense but X-Men: First Class was the first X-Men movie I actually fully enjoyed. And yes, I saw all the previous ones. So hearing Singer is back, I'm not looking too much forward to this new movie.

I really enjoyed it too, I'm not sure why exactly but I really liked the story compared to the others.

Aaand rated dumb for telling it like it is. :v:

if they make a enjoyable and decent movie then why's it milking. Xmen 1 and 2, and First class are all fine films.

Because you don't make movies about every single last character in a franchise unless you are milking it.
Oh god Ian McKellan as Magento was amazing
Oh god singer is back
Cue more homosexual subtext

You have no idea what Days of Future Past is do you?
I wonder if they'll try to incorporate Bishop and Cable.
that name makes no sense.
It reminds me of the Transformers Collector Club comic/botcon set "Dawn of Future's Past" which actually did make some sense since it served as a prequel (as retarded as that is due to continuity) to Beast Wars, which was already the distant future of Transformers G1.
Could it be a varation of this?

Unlikely that it won't be.
Can't be any worse than Origins and United, right?

it's probably about time travel

why not
why can't movies have that when comics, tv, and other things can
why

is it milking if it's making good movies? isn't EVERY commercial movie made essentially made to "milk" money out of audiences?
god damn, seriously man
What?
The first two X-Men films were fantastic, X2 even more so.
YES! I freaking love those two both as actors and as opposites Xavier and Magneto.
