(AP) — A Louisiana college student has acknowledged she fabricated a report that she was assaulted and robbed of her wallet and Muslim headscarf by two men, one of whom she described as wearing a white "Trump" hat, police said Thursday. The Lafayette Police Department said in a statement that it is no longer investigating the 18-year-old woman's claims, which were made within hours of Donald Trump's presidential victory. Police said the student told investigators she was walking near the University of Louisiana at Lafayette's campus Wednesday morning when she was accosted by two white men who drove up in a gray sedan. Police added the student had claimed the men shouted racial obscenities as they knocked her down and stole her wallet and the headscarf, known as a hijab. Charlie Bier, a spokesman for the university, said a federal privacy law prohibits him from saying whether the student could be disciplined.
Way to use police resources when actual shit has been going on.
I can imagine this will be happening a lot, there's gonna be shit on both sides for a loonnngggg time.
Another article to fuel the fight between which group of supporters are the worst. Case point, both sides have bad eggs.
Immediately calls into question many of the claims being made on social media at the moment.
These people are the worst. Needs to be fined or jailed. Make an example to show this is not acceptable.
I agree. Things like this are happening: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=27f_1478817574
Racist scum.
The amount of questionable stories are pretty insane right now. There's one popular one (that I can't be half-assed to look for right now) about a man being beaten with a bottle by trump supporters. They posted a pic of the "aftermath", which looks blatantly like a smirking man covered in fake blood. EDIT: Here it is.

Either way you do not normally bleed like that from a beer to the forehead, calling bullshit on this one.
Shit like this needs to be taken seriously as punishable with a fine Because it's discrediting ACTUAL hate crimes that are and will be occurring. I don't need to hear Trump supporters using this to support their already fucked up rhetoric.
Perpetuating victim culture that doesn't really exist outside of white supremacists and neo-nazis. Shame on her.
The weirdest thing is that no matter which side does it, it doesn't really help them at all. Why bother, if you're right you won't need blatant lies. There's already plenty of actual Islamophobia occurring that we could focus on but I guess someone needed some dank karma/reblogs/likes/whatever.
im sure there are plenty of racist things happening in this country, in particular as of trump's elect but we really dont need fabricated stories making things worse for everyone
Racist scum.
The hell is wrong with you? Did you forget that only white people can be racist?

Headwounds bleed profusely. Even minor ones do. That's because your face and scalp are packed with blood vessels close to the surface of the skin. A lot of people freak out when they have a laceration or something and they start bleeding everywhere. It looks serious, but unless your skull is broken/pierced/deformed/etc., you're probably fine and can stop the bleeding yourself at home. Might have a concussion, and you should absolutely seek professional help to make sure you're fine, but the point is getting blood everywhere from a headwound is not uncommon. [editline]10th November 2016[/editline] Oh look at that, it actually was genuine. Thanks for the follow up/ninja'ing, catbarf. Looks like the alternative was correct: you just don't understand anatomy.
I'm not saying you should automatically trust every claim made when there are clearly some people making it up, but going full Internet forensic detective on someone who turns out to have actually been the victim of a hate crime makes you look like a douche.
This is why the currently popular narrative of "but the left are the ones who REALLY assault people! If they ever get attacked its probably fake!" is incredibly dangerous. It delegitimizes real victims and experiences and leads to even more of an us vs. them ideology that directly led to Trump being elected. People can be violent no matter their political or ideological beliefs (although I would argue that certain beliefs lend themselves to violence more than others)
but going full Internet forensic detective on someone who turns out to have actually been the victim of a hate crime makes you look like a douche.
so his hands and body are covered in blood, but his watch is completely spotless? that's the most questionable thing that stood out to me

A cut in this area will bleed freely for quite some time and will heal quickly.[5] A cut in this location will allow the blood to mix in with the sweat on the wrestler's face, giving them the proverbial "crimson mask" effect.
It did leave me doubtful. Especially considering the guy has experience dealing with fake blood before. But yeah, if it was real, then I'm sorry for throwing that out there without having fully researched the ordeal. EDIT: His Facebook page divulges more. It's real. Sorry guys
I agree. Things like this are happening: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=27f_1478817574
Holy fuck. Wait to just reaffirm Trump and his terrible rhetoric to these people.
So. The man is not even president yet and these people are hard at work giving them fuel for his re-election. Keep it up, great job. :goodjob: [editline]10th November 2016[/editline] This right here is why people voted Trump in the first place. They're too stupid to see it.
Looks like liberals are working hard to make sure Trump gets re-elected next time.
Way to use police resources when actual shit has been going on.
making inquiries into a potential violent crime is a waste of police resources? [editline]12th November 2016[/editline] my bad, this is a different article to the one i thought it was about. it is a waste of police resources to make false reports.
Liberals/Democrats have such a fucking awful name right now because of this kind of bullshit. I hope someone does pull her headscarf off now just because nobody will believe her

[editline]13th November 2016[/editline]
[image] ...Maybe I was wrong.
I should have checked the thread more properly, but at least there's now a direct archive of the police page instead of just a screenshot. (Don't believe screenshots without checking, seriously. About half the ones I come across in this kind of context are forged or complete fabrications.)
