Fox's Fuck Up. The show was ended pre-maturely by Fox when they thought that nobody liked the show due to ratings, this was mostly their fault when they screwed around with the order that the episodes aired for the first time. From what i can gather, Joss made a near two hour 'pilot' that Fox didn't like, they told him that they wanted him to show an action-packed episode to get everyone interested. joss disagree'd, saying that he wanted to introduce the viewers to the complex universe he had created. He made episode two, 'The Train Job' which is still currently listed as episode one on imdb; http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0303461/episodes Fox aired this episode first and many believe this to be the reason why not many viewers stuck with the series. It has been labelled "what could have been", as once people watched re-runs or bought the season box set, they saw it for the absolute gem it is. Serenity Long after the show was cancelled Joss still fought to get it brought back, the new fans emerging everywhere were his argument for it. Eventually he got given the rights for a high budget movie. Thus serenity was born. An awesome movie, suited for the awesome tv show. I'm going to cut this short and basically say, if you have not watched this show, then tune in to the sci fi channel and see when it's playing next, or the most logical suggestion, buy the box set. It's damn worth it. There has almost certainly been a thread before but without search, well, i thought i'd just make my own.
I didn't know Wash's first name was Hoban.
Love this show so much. Above comment is an understatement
This may just be my favorite show ever.
I saw Serenity and liked it a while back, I should probably try and catch a couple of episodes.
I saw Serenity and liked it a while back, I should probably try and catch a couple of episodes.
The show is waaaaaaaayyy better than the movie. And when you take into account the fact that the movie is still fucking great, well, just take it from me, it's the best sci-fi show of the past 10 years.
I shit my pants with excitement every time I see it, shame about it being one series only.
This may just be my favorite show ever.
ditto
I shit my pants with excitement every time I see it
sounds like a serious bowel problem from where I'm standing
It pisses me off so much that FOX got this cancelled cause they were fucking around.
Biggest tragedy in the TV industry.
I went back and watched all the episodes. FOX is full of morons. I will forever hate them for this.
So it's basically the post Civil War "Wild West?"
So it's basically the post Civil War "Wild West?"
Watch it.
i have this and the movie on DVD. Adam Baldwin, Nathan Fillion and Adam Tudyk were all in Halo 3 and ODST, both which have a number of Firefly References (mostly from Adam Baldwin's characters) heck Nathan Fillion voiced a Marine in Halo 3 called "Sargent Reynolds"
Fox has continuously proven that they do not know what the fuck they are doing. But at least Futurama came back.
I made a thread a few weeks back, it's buried somewhere now though. Also I just recently received my Jayne Cobb T-shirt in the mail, the one he wears in serenity specifically.
Why did they have to cancel it :c
It would be awesome to see a few more episodes but would people really go on about it as much as they do now if it wasn't cancelled?
Fox has continuously proven that they do not know what the fuck they are doing. But at least Futurama came back.
Yeah, ... on Comedy Central. (unless I'm missing something). The whole Fox network thing is probably better off as it's own separate thread, though. I've seen Serenity a couple times, and fucking loved it. If I can find the series I'll watch it, but if it's as good as everyone says then I hope another network picks it up. Oh, and Morena Baccarin & Summer Glau are damn hot.

It was one of the better sci-fi shows. And it had much more potential than newer shows airing these days. I wish they could have made a few more seasons.
