Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-36610068
A masked man who reportedly fired shots in a cinema complex in western Germany has been shot dead by police, the state's interior minister has said. Peter Beuth told the state of Hessen's parliament that police stormed the Kinopolis complex in Viernheim, near Frankfurt, after shots were reported. "The police thought that the gunman was holding hostages and because of that he was shot dead," he added. At least 20 people are said to have been hurt. Most were apparently suffering the effects of tear gas released as police stormed the complex. It is not clear whether anyone was wounded by the attacker.
Well... shit.
I hope this is resolved quickly with as few casualties as possible.
I wonder if it was a far-right extremist.

Hope everyone makes it out.
I wonder if it was a far-right extremist.
yeah we'll see
Apparently they 'overwhelmed and arrested' the person already according to TV news. Can't seem to find it online yet.

I'll be the one to say it. This is going to effect tonight's referendum
The BBC article says he might have used tear gas and fired at least one shot.
I'll be the one to say it. This is going to effect tonight's referendum
What?
I'll be the one to say it. This is going to effect tonight's referendum
I was thinking that if it happened yesterday (and was a terrorist attack) then it could of had a big impact but at 4pm I guess most people would have voted already?
I was thinking that if it happened yesterday (and was a terrorist attack) then it could of had a big impact but at 4pm I guess most people would have voted already?
There's still the folks who get out of work at 5, but I don't know if this is enough to influence someone to change their vote
So. Muslims again or what?
I was thinking that if it happened yesterday (and was a terrorist attack) then it could of had a big impact but at 4pm I guess most people would have voted already?
Probably the opposite actually, most people go and vote after they come home from work. I don't have any numbers but I think this is the case.
Probably the opposite actually, most people go and vote after they come home from work. I don't have any numbers but I think this is the case.
People will watch the news and then go and vote.
I wonder if it was a far-right extremist.

Muslims again or what?
Nobody knows yet, could swing either way.
So. Muslims again or what?
No, you doofus! The problem is that Germany needs even tougher gun control, can't you see? :^)
Nobody knows yet, could swing either way.
It could also be neither. Better not to speculate until there is some actual information.
My mom lives in a city close to Viernheim, i used to live there as well and went to this cinema quite a few times. It feels strange seeing such a familiar place swarmed with police on the live stream right now..
Nobody knows yet, could swing either way.
Aren't muslim terrorists technically far right tho
Further to the referendum question: According to this article (http://washingtonmonthly.com/2012/10/23/when-do-people-vote/), most people vote in the evenings. I know that this data is from the USA but I think it is likely that voters in the UK follow similar patterns. On topic: No news yet so it is unclear whether this will have any effect on the referendum. Presumably a far right extremist attacker might boost Remain whereas an islamist extremist attacker might boost Leave?
So. Muslims again or what?
Disappointed that it took 16 posts to ask this.
Hopefully nobody was killed sans the gunman
Why does it have to be one or the other? It could also be a psycho white dude cosplayed as Batman, just like the Aurora shooting.
Looking even less like terrorism - some sources are claiming most if not all of the injuries were the result of teargas and at least one shot was heard.
Disappointed that it took 16 posts to ask this.
Eh, nowadays they are kinda responsible for a lot of shit.
Looking even less like terrorism - some sources are claiming most if not all of the injuries were the result of teargas and at least one shot was heard.
Like I said, hopefully those injuries are recoverable and people can return to their daily lives
