EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - A high school student in the Poconos has been charged with threatening his principal and other school officials in a rap song called "Columbine'' he wrote and posted online. Eighteen-year-old East Stroudsburg resident Zyiar Clark was charged Tuesday with aggravated assault and other offenses.
http://www.wfmz.com/news/Regional-Poconos-Coal/east-stroudsburg-student-charged-with-threatening-school-in-rap-song-columbine/26032510
How can you be charged with aggravated assault without actually assaulting anyone? Honestly it is good that the school took note of the song since this kid clearly has issues, however last time I checked music is free speech. Unless he said these peoples names directly on the song, implied persons do not constitute a felony. Rappers especially in the late 90's did that plenty of times and what happened to them?

Can we get the full lyrics?
Zero tolerance.
It should be renamed to Zero Intelligence the way things are going nowadays.

You're thinking of battery.
Isn't assault more along the lines of "intended unwanted forceful physical contact"
Not according to American legalese. That sort of thing falls under battery.
Isn't assault more along the lines of "intended unwanted forceful physical contact"? I always thought assault was a physical term
That's GBH as far as I know If you actually go and hit someone then it's ABH EDIT: No sorry other way around, GBH is seriously hurting someone, ABH is hitting someone but not causing some serious harm
But from what I'm reading words alone don't count as assault which is what the song is, nonetheless aggravated assault where there needs to be intent to cause serious harm
He probably want's to murder people because he lives in the Pocono's. I definitely would. You can only go to Camel Beach so many times.

I would've told him to just delete it and maybe see the councilor for a few days. But being charged for it is just overkill. I can understand how it may be offensive/touchy to some people, but, thats something that 95% of rappers don't consider and/or don't give a shit about.

All the big rappers rap about killing people.
Being in public school and mentioning "Columbine" with any sort of threatening demeanor is akin to saying "bomb" in an airport or on an airplane, don't do it or you will be tackled by a large, sweaty law enforcement officer if the large, sweaty passengers haven't dogpiled you first.
