Sound engineer Anton Voloshin was killed at the scene - the village of Metalist village outside the city of Luhansk - while a reporter, Igor Kornelyuk, died in hospital during surgery. A third member of the crew survived. Rossiya 24 channel announced earlier in the day that an employee had been wounded in mortar fire while on assignment and was in a serious condition. The crew were thought to have been filming Ukrainian refugees fleeing the area, which has been overrun by pro-Russian insurgents.
Raw footage can be found in the Euronews source (along with short english covereage of the event) although I can't embed it so click the link below.I found another video on youtube of the same event, even though the video is from RT its just the raw footage from the person that survived. russia is gonna flip a bitch
RT is not a source, neither is sites copying an article containing the words "according to" and "apparently"..
the daily mail is also not a source, but they get posted here a lot
RT is not a source, neither is sites copying an article containing the words "according to" and "apparently"..
RT is a source if you take you just take it with a grain of salt. There is video proof that two people died. To just trust one sides news is unproductive and dangerous as everyone has their own view that they want to push to the world. In order to get a balanced idea of what is happening in a given situation its essential to look at news sources from all around the world and average it out the best you can. You really think that the western media isn't extremely biased as well? I like how all the media here is completely silent on the Ukraine situation unless its was big bad Russia that did something. When Ukraine shells civilians and imprisons foreign journalists there is barely a peep.
RT is not a source, neither is sites copying an article containing the words "according to" and "apparently"..
RT twists facts a lot but I've never seen them outright lie
RT twists facts a lot but I've never seen them outright lie
What about that time that guy was caught as an actor playing as separatist/protestor/etc?
what I really don't get is people getting so riled up when things like this happen, when you're a war journalist sitting right next to people engaged in combat it shouldn't surprise anyone that there's shit exploding around them and there's a real risk of them catching a stray bullet or shrapnel.
RT twists facts a lot but I've never seen them outright lie
I have, plenty of times. One that springs to mind is they explicitly said "The Mi-35 is not a real helicopter, it does not exist" when it is the export name for the Mi-24. This was in an article talking about shipments to Syria.
What about that time that guy was caught as an actor playing as separatist/protestor/etc?
all major media organizations do these things
all major media organizations do these things
I hope you realise RT is a p̶r̶o̶p̶a̶g̶a̶n̶d̶a̶ ̶m̶a̶c̶h̶i̶n̶e̶ news organization with direct ties to the Kremlin.

The RT logo popping up at the end of the video scared the shit out of me.

Saw this on the Russian News channel (24), they dedicate time on channel to remember them, every day.
every major western media organization has the same equivalent ties to their respective governments [editline]22nd June 2014[/editline] see: things like operation mockingbird
There's a massive difference between vague operations designed to influence the media, and direct government ownership of media outlets.
They knew the risks when going reporting into warzone, but still sad to see people get killed who are not even part of the fighting whatsoever. Rest in peace brave reporters.
What about that time that guy was caught as an actor playing as separatist/protestor/etc?
Was that RT or domestic russian news? [editline]21st June 2014[/editline]
There's a massive difference between vague operations designed to influence the media, and direct government ownership of media outlets.
Direct govt ownership means jack all, look at public broadcasters. However RT is different, they were created to portray "new Russia". They're no different from Radio Moscow, except RT twists facts and Radio Moscow is straight up propaganda.

I have to imagine that enduring a shelling without any short of safe roof over your head is about one of the scariest things that a person can do. At least in a gunfight you might have some rough idea where the fire is coming from so you can take cover or shoot back, artillery basicly just says "fuck you, hide in a hole and hope you arent randomly chosen to have your limbs blown off"
Reading the statement by the Russian government is funny.
"We demand Ukrainian authorities immediately carry out an independent investigation into this tragedy and punish the culprits," the statement read.
You are in a warzone. The only culprits here, are the people who murdered common sense.
"News", that happened on June 17th. I was kinda surprised to not see this earlier, but couldn't be arsed to make a thread myself.
Feels weird watching explosions without the customary "Allen's snack bar" chanting.
Feels weird watching explosions without the customary "Allen's snack bar" chanting.
what a great fucking thing to say
"News", that happened on June 17th. [sp]It was proposed but apparently his own army don't give a damn as shellin continues.[/sp]

[sp]It was proposed but apparently his own army don't give a damn as shellin continues.[/sp]
Probably because his own army knows it's a thinly-veiled ultimatum with an element of population transfer/ethnic cleansing.
Well to be fair rebels also didn't give a smallest of shits about that ceasefire.
Ofcourse, what's point to lay down weapons when opposing side continued pressing while and after treaty proposal? Besides, it's not the first case when Poroshenko's promises turn sour - humanitarian corridor for fleeing people was not provided either.
