[B]A blind man who crashed a car just minutes after getting behind the wheel for the first time has been banned from the roads.

No matter how you twist it, having a blind man behind the wheel of a car is a recipe for disaster.
"Hey, man, can I drive your car? I know I'm blind and all, but it'll be cool, I swear."

"call the cops i don't give a fuck"
I am sorry but how does a blind man drive?
W-why was a blind man driving to begin with?
I am sorry but how does a blind man drive?
Intuition.
I'm guessing the car just screams "BRAKE BRAKE BRAKE" or something. Can't really think of another way...
Why was he ALLOWED to begin with?
[editline]5th September 2013[/editline]
And why will he be allowed again in three years time?
He wasn't allowed, he had a provisional licence which he had before he went blind, although he was banned he will never be able to get a full licence.
He drove his friend's car.
I guess they just got in his blind spot.
oh wait he was STILL blind
ok that makes more sense
I would've felt bad for the guy otherwise...
That's why we need google AI cars.
they probably missed the part where he's fucking blind when they put him in the car

That's what confuses me, why would he ever be unbanned from driving...

Probably a limit on what the judge can give for that crime.
i would also like to point out that the steering wheel is on the wrong side, which may have contributed to the wreck itself.

I do think this kinda thing is the future, even if it's the far future. Most car accidents are due to human error or incompetence. Also imagine how much more efficient everything would be.

It works different here, you aren't automatically banned for being blind, you simply can't get a licence.
He got a provisional licence (a licence to learn to drive with) when he could see, and so he was banned using that. Although technically as he failed to declare he was blind, that licence was void anyway.
I believe this belongs here

I was just thinking that.
I'm sorry officer I just don't see what I did wrong.

I'd rather google made cars specifically for blind people instead of either taking away people's ability to drive or throw in invasive "safety" technology everywhere

Apparently, badly.
