Dad trying to keep me Catholic - General

Soup FP! I'm almost 18, and have been raised under a Catholic family PRETTY MUCH my whole life. I told my dad I was thinking about not practicing Catholicism, and he flipped a new one! He told me that he wouldn't want to support me through college (attending CUA, lol) - but I don't know. What do you guys think about religion? People back then didnt have the knoweledge we have today so they would do the right thing thinking it would give them eternal joy.
