I have not read it, and I probably won't as I've read enough polarizing things on DAII, but fuck that is long. It's probably the same complaints I've read elsewhere, even here on FP.
It's not that long. It's just long for being a games article
That thing about [sp]Anders blowing up the Chantry[/sp] got on my nerves so bad. And the fact that no matter who you [sp]side with at the end makes no difference really[/sp]. I would have to agree with the article on every point made. It wasn't a bad game, just not a good sequel.
I greatly disliked the game for it seemingly being a downgrade from the previous, both in terms of story and gameplay, and I hope it doesn't translate into other Bioware games, like ME3

Really felt that something was wrong with DA2, but that it inherently wasn't a bad game, I think RPS got it in summation perfectly; that the biggest problem was that it really didn't deserve to be called a sequel to DA:O, and obviously that annoying problem more and more games seem to have these days, that even though they try to craft some rich compelling story, it's all additive, and by the end, it would be impossible to actually have an ending to encompass everything. I didn't mind the way in which DA:O wrapped everything up, a little dull, but at least it was informative, and gave me some sense that everything I did wasn't just some annoyance to the games ultimate end.
The game actually had an incredibly appealing premise. Every Bioware game has you saving the world (DA:O and Mass Effect 2 even had the exact same plot structure) so it's great that Bioware wanted to do something more small scale and personal. The best RPG's are one's that are more about the characters than the story. It's just silly that they wasted such a good concept for a story on a cash cow that they took a year at most to make.
Everything was wrong with Dragon Age 2
I think it's the same thing as what happened to Crysis 2 Less good than the first but still good Yes I just summarized RPS's great article in 8 words
The "iTunes rating system of 1 to 5" What. iTunes was definitely NOT the first to use a 1-5 rating system. Where did he ever jump to that conclusion.

From what I've played of DA2, it seemed to go almost in the exact opposite direction of DA: O, not that that's technically a bad thing. If they made pretty much another DA: O I would not have bought it since that just shows laziness as well. But as much as I hate to say it, I felt DA2 was too stylized. I remember reading an early article about DA: O in which they wanted to create a dark fantasy universe. Maybe they wanted to go in a different direction, but it felt a little cartoony. Also I found the sarcastic lines would have been funnier if they just voice recorded the exact text for them. But still, I'm glad Bioware took risks with DA2, and I despise those people who wanted to impede change. How would we have known what would work and what wouldn't if people always kept to what they knew? I feel Bioware wanted to experiment with DA2, and I'm sure they'll take what they've learned from both DA: O and DA2 and make a great game with DA3. The skill line system in DA: O was a bad design choice, as well as the ridiculous gore in DA2. Both had good and bad points to them. I still look forward to their next games, because I don't lose faith in a company for one ok game. Well, as long as EA doesn't rush them.
This is what worries me about ME3 I am not convinced that it's been in development long enough for it to have all the work done it needs
The "iTunes rating system of 1 to 5" What. iTunes was definitely NOT the first to use a 1-5 rating system.
