VIRGINIA BEACH -- An argument between customers at a 7-11 store became extremely violent late Monday, ending when one supposedly dragged another under a van. Susan Lacson, who works at the store, located on Level Green Boulevard near Indian River Road, told 13News it started when one person didn't have enough money to cover the sales tax on a pack of Newport cigarettes. "The guy was asking the suspect for 50 cents," recalled Lacson. "He said, 'I won't give you 50 cents for your bad habit.'" Lacson continued, "The victim said, 'You need a gun.' He said, 'What?' Then, the suspect said, 'Why do I need a gun?' and, then, they went outside. The clerk, who threw the sales tax in, herself, to try to ease the situation, called 9-1-1. She waited on another customer, and, by the time she looked up and out of the windows in the front of the store, Lacson said the person who bought the cigarettes was underneath the van of the person with whom he argued. Master Police Officer Adam Bernstein told 13News the driver dragged the victim about 30 yards. "Back left-hand side of his head was bleeding," described Doc Hughey who had been eating at the Hardee's next to the 7-11. "The meat all over his right shoulder was torn, well, skin was torn off," offered Hughey. "The right hip, the back right shoulder, his right leg was, had streaks down it from where it had been dragging on concrete here on the road. It was terrible." Despite how bad the injuries sound, Hughey told 13News the victim was talking and moving an arm. Hughey said the victim didn't scream and was, overall, calm. "I don't see how," Hughey noted. Paramedics took the victim to the hospital. Police expect him to recover. Bernstein said the driver of the van left. "For 50 cents, you're gonna hurt somebody?" Lacson questioned. "It's really sad."
http://www.wvec.com/news/Cigarettes-request-for-50-cents-lead-to-dragging-of-person-by-van-120670969.html I hope he's ok... Also, there's a video on the source. UPDATE
Correction: A previous version of this story misstated how far the victim was dragged. A man was recovering Tuesday after being struck by a van and dragged at least 30 to 40 yards the day before, police said. About 4:45 p.m. Monday, three men were in line at the 7-Eleven store at 920 Level Green Blvd. when they began arguing, said Officer Adam Bernstein, a police spokesman. The argument grew heated, and the men went outside, he said. That's when one of them got into a van and struck one of the others, Bernstein said. The driver then dragged the man before fleeing, he said. The victim suffered serious injuries, including severe road rash, but he is expected to survive, Bernstein said. Medics took him to a hospital for treatment. Witnesses have helped police identify a suspect, and warrants are out for his arrest on charges of attempted aggravated malicious wounding and aggravated malicious wounding, Bernstein said
http://hamptonroads.com/2011/04/warrants-are-out-after-man-dragged-van-va-beach
That's horrible :saddowns:
50 cents, what That's just sad.

I'm confused as to what happened.. can somebody explain please?
Wow. people have no common cents these days...
this is why 50 cent is a bad influence to kids
Wow. people have no common cents these days...
:rimshot:
Front page, "Man asks for 50 cents, gets..." I hoped for something like, "a million dollars" not "dragged by van"
I don't get it. The guy who asked for the money started it right?
I don't get it. The guy who asked for the money started it right?
It seemed like it by the articles confusing wording but it was actually the other guy who started it.
tbh if i had heard the convo i would of just given the 50 cents
What the fucking shit.
What? Why does he need a gun?? And I wouldn't have given the guy 50 cents either, I don't see why anyone should have to pay for someone else's habit of increasing the risk of getting lung cancer... but why hit the guy with your car? I have the feeling we're not getting the whole story here. People usually don't run other people over for no real reason. [editline]26th April 2011[/editline] The whole gun part sounds very fishy to me... I'm willing to bet the suspect felt threatened by the smoker (or that he was going to get mugged) and panicked. [editline]26th April 2011[/editline] If someone told me that I needed a gun after refusing to pay him (whatever amount of money, be it as little as 50 cents) I'd feel like the guy is trying to mug me and get the hell away from him. (or call the police if he keeps harassing me)
I say the "victim" is the actual suspect since he told the other guy he needed a gun. Most likely the "victim" continued to argue with the other man who was trying to go home or just leave and the "victim" wouldn't move out of the way and/or was making threats. The only solution to get this guy to leave him alone may have been to run him over. Of course he could have backed out as well, at the moment the context can go both ways. Personally I think the victim deserved it with his attitude. If someone isn't going to give you money for a bad habit, don't expect them to. You're a stranger, they don't care for your habits.
Wait. Guy A is 50 cents short for his cigarettes so he asks guy B for some change, who says no because he's anti-smoking. Guy A says guy B will need a gun, guy B asks why, takes guy A outside and does that shit to him? Honestly, can we please get a better source for this? This shit's confusing.
I wouldn't give him 50 cents either.
Whoever wrote that article must be doing work experience for special ed or something.
I'm confused as to what happened.. can somebody explain please?
It's senseless anyway.
I find it sad that the only one that helped the person that was dragged was an older gentleman. No youth these days seem to want to help other people anymore.
Maybe I'm just slow today, but I couldn't understand what happened in the article?
From what that article said, smoker asks for money, other person said no, smoker says he will attack him, they go outside, and the other guy is dragging the smoker under the van. Sounds like the smoker started it and it escalated to me.

i'd give him 2 bucks for the next 3 times he will get smokes
When some random wankjob kills someone in cold blood, you guys don't seem to be too eager about finding excuses and explanations, unlike in this case when someone almost killed a man dragging him down the street with his van!
When some random wankjob kills someone in cold blood, you guys don't seem to be too eager about finding excuses and explanations, unlike in this case when someone almost killed a man but it isn't certain why, how or what!
You wouldn't wanna know why somebody almost got skinned after asking for 50 cents?
What a weird story, mostly when it's a bit confusing to understand
You wouldn't wanna know why somebody almost got skinned after asking for 50 cents?
I uhh.. I think it's pretty obvious, he got his buttcheeks scarred for asking for 50cents, or for cigarettes, or for his ugly face. Motives are not as important as the outcome. So no, I wouldn't even wanna know; it's senseless.
Maybe I'm just slow today, but I couldn't understand what happened in the article?
For the people who don't get it all that happened was guyA asked another guyB for fifty cents to pay the sales tax on some cigarettes. GuyB freaked out and dragged guyA 30 yards with his van.
I was expecting the title to end "beat up". Not sure which one is worse. Probably being dragged by a van.
