Millions of Egyptians flooded into the streets on the first anniversary of Islamist President Mohamed Mursi's inauguration on Sunday to demand that he resign in the biggest challenge so far to rule by his Muslim Brotherhood.
Waving national flags and chanting "Get out!", a crowd of nearly 500,000 massed in and around Cairo's central Tahrir Square in by far the largest demonstration since the 2011 uprising that overthrew Mursi's predecessor, Hosni Mubarak.
"The people want the fall of the regime!" they shouted, echoing the Arab Spring rallying cry that brought down Mubarak - this time yelling it not against an ageing dictator but against the first elected leader in Egypt's 5,000-year recorded history.

Despite the peaceful atmosphere of the day, as night fell, isolated acts of violence left two people dead.
"It is the biggest protest in Egypt's history," a military source told AFP on condition of anonymity, adding that "millions" of people were on the streets across the country.
Good to see that egyptians are still fighting for their land, and GOOD to see that the muslim brotherhood might not be able to establish itself in power after all.
I wish them all the best of luck.
Good, this is how you get things done.
Not bitching on the internet.

By buying all of our shirts and posters ofcourse
Let's hope things don't get any uglier than they need to be.
deja vu
Good time for another country to take action, hypothetically

isn't this literally what you say on EVERY thread?
Just make some signs and go out protest or whatever

You should start a protest movement against people bitching on the internet rather than protesting
The rest of the world needs to learn from the Arab Spring. If we're unhappy with our leaders we should be out on the street's protesting.

Looks like one hell of a rave.
I don't get what the big deal is. Go a little screwy with animal rights stuff, and suddenly Egypt thinks you're the worst musician in the world.
Good, this is how you get things done.
Not bitching on the internet.
And tell me what YOU'RE doing to protest against the US government?
Also, the internet is a communications tool, obviously we're going to use it to voice our dissapointment towards our government, you try doing that shit in a public space you'll be either ignored or forced to stop.

I'm gonna retweet this right now!
I sure do hope it wont go from protest to riot
I sure do hope it wont go from protest to riot
While most hope for peaceful change, as do I, none of us can deny the greatest thing power respects is power.
this is what happens when you try to islamify a country without consideration to the existing legal structure and the freedoms it allows.
[editline]1st July 2013[/editline]
good to see the people of egypt tearing down the islamic brotherhood's attempt to make another iran.
now if the military will stay out of the protests like they did last time is the real question

They're already unpopular enough...
Imagine what would happen if they defend a 1 year dictator.
