Let me begin this posting by urging that people do not rush to judgment. I say that because the unfolding of this story is likely to be stimulate prejudice on either side. My aim here is simply to set out the facts.
It concerns a woman's death in circumstances that are not yet definitively clear and a controversial column in the Daily Mail.
He wrote: "Why should they be forced to deal with the news that a male teacher they have always known as Mr Upton will henceforth be a woman called Miss Meadows?"
That column has now been taken down from the Mail site following the news that Lucy Meadows was found dead at a house in Accrington on Tuesday.
Now an online petition has been launched calling on the Mail to fire Littlejohn and demanding a formal apology for the stress and pain caused to Lucy Meadows by the columnist, the paper and its readership.
The petition organiser states: "No one deserves to have their lives turned upside down for their gender identity being thrown into the national spotlight.

Gotta love the dailymail and it's fantastic, well thought out way of dealing with sensative issues like this.
It's not definite that it was the daily mail that caused her suicide, but still they shouldn't be poking around in the lives of people, its none of their business.

Oh and it seems that it's actually true, this poor women was being harassed by the press
Lucy Meadows, 32, was found dead in Lancashire on Tuesday, three months after starting to live and work as a woman. Her gender transition was the subject of vigorous press interest after a letter written by the headteacher of St Mary Magdalen's C of E primary school in Accrington just before Christmas was leaked to the media.
Fae said in an article for the New Statesman: "[Meadows] talks of her good luck in having a supportive head. But the stress of her situation is also visible. She complains bitterly of how she must leave her house by the back door, and arrive at school very early, or very late, in order to avoid the press pack.
"She talks of the press offering other parents money for a picture of her; of how in the end they simply lifted an old picture from the Facebook pages of her brother and sister without permission. A Year 5 drawing removed from the school website was simply recovered through the magic of caching."

So the dailymail pretty much killed a person.
Lovely
my mom reads daily mail like it's the god's truth. it's really shitty.
Richard Littlejohn is a grade A cunt, so I wouldn't be surprised
Is this the paper with tits on the third page of the newspaper

That would be the Sun. The Daily Mail has more class.
That would be the Sun. The Daily Mail has more class.
Nah, The Sun has more class than the Daily Mail, tits do not make a newspaper classless, shit articles, worse journalism and an insatiable desire to ruin lives make a paper classless and the Daily Cunt excels at all of the aforementioned qualities.

Well the dailymail covers "news" (if you can call what they print that) where as The Sun talks about who got a breast enhancements. So I guess you can say it has more... class I guess, both papers pretty much hate every minority ever, just the dailymail hates them slightly less.
Atleast the sun has boobs to cheer you up, the daily mail spends half the time yelling how existing gives you cancer

The Daily Mail regularly just makes up stories dude, they barely do news, it's anything that'll get readers and at least The SUn are remotely honest about it by just blaming tits on page 3, the Daily Mail tries to be a serious hard hitting newspaper, but they're just a bunch of wankers.

Is it just me or does that giraffe look shopped too?
That would be the Sun. The Daily Mail has more class.
i dunno, the sun has a certain charm to it
Wait, why are newspapers allowed to write intimate details about a private person's daily life?

What an Earth is going on in this picture?
Looks like she's trying to murder him
So basically the same deal as that girl who killed herself [potentially] because those DJs called her.
Maybe I'm a bit more sympathetic because being ridiculed for being transgendered is a few orders of magnitude more scarring than getting a prank call, but in the end, the "journalist" (I use that term with caution) didn't force her to outright commit suicide, so ultimately, it was nobody's fault.
Although is Richard Littlejohn his real name? Why not just call himself Dick Littlepenis?
The Daily Mail regularly just makes up stories dude, they barely do news, it's anything that'll get readers and at least The SUn are remotely honest about it by just blaming tits on page 3, the Daily Mail tries to be a serious hard hitting newspaper, but they're just a bunch of wankers.
The Sun and The Mirror are papers that clearly have an agenda. Really poorly written and go bezerk at even the slightest thing fairly often, but not all the time.
At least the Daily Mail is consistent. It hates everything.

That's a very naive way of looking at it. External stimuli often cause such emotional distress that suicide seems like the only way out. No, he didn't hand her a gun and say "do it bitch", but he contributed to it. That's like saying the country that dropped the bomb isn't to be blamed for the fire that happened afterwards.
Obligatory repost that needs to be posted in every sensationalist headline thread that has the words "Daily" and "Mail" next to each other.

This is awful, but is it such a surprise that the publication that is more effective as bog roll then as a newspaper is behaving horribly? The Daily Mail is utter trash. If I wanted someone to yell at me about Roma, Muslims, or sexual deviancy then I'd go to a bigoted preacher.

Though I guess I'd need someone else to warn me of the "fascist" EU
This news site has been on my black list for a while. It scared people about vaccines and contributed to the fall of the WHO's plan to eradicate several diseases, it keeps pushing anti-science garbage, etc.

It's good to have a laugh at every now and then, though.
You guys are acting as if any newspapers are trustworthy - not a single one is.
You guys are acting as if any newspapers are trustworthy - not a single one is.
It's not a binary solution; some newspapers aren't as shit as others, and generally anything is better than tabloids.

Some of them are, in my opinion.
Certainly a lot more reliable compared to stuff like the Daily Mail, perhaps not perfect.
