Well it turns out that there’s a scientific explanation for this phenomenon. Researchers at Plymouth University’s Cognition Institute in the United Kingdom have found that playing Tetris for a certain period of time actually seems to reduce natural cravings such as hunger. Essentially, the researchers claim that having an interactive visual stimulus such as Tetris or other video games in front of you can replace your cravings for a little bit. The researchers conclude that “Tetris might be a useful task for tackling cravings outside the laboratory,” although we’re unlikely to see a Tetris diet in the near future and forsaking food to play video games probably isn’t the healthiest way to lose weight.
I can confirm this.
Food? What's food?
You mean if it weren't for games I'd be even hungrier than I am now? That's a scary thought.
Who would've guessed that the ultimate weight loss technique would involve sitting on your ass all day.
Isn't this kind of obvious though? Doing things distracts you from other things. People quit cigarettes by keeping busy, etc.
I think my keyboard may refute this study.
I sometime skip food/have quick snack.
oh wow so being occupied means you forget the urge to do other things? breakthrough, stop the presses
I've noticed this myself for a few years now. Cool to see it actually confirmed.
this really isn't really specific to video games though
I feel like this is something prominent for everyone in their very early youth (afterwards it varies) when dopamine is still plentiful. Any other equivalent thing that releases as much dopamine would have the same appetite-suppressant effect.

I can confirm this, I only eat like two meals a day. Although that's probably because I wake up at noon.
Wow, for once it's not like "Children are starving to death due to violent video games"

My lunch break is literally playing Bejeweled and maybe a hot chocolate.
Also dullens my need to use the bathroom :C
Too bad there's nothing to play :v:
Yeah, but all that plastic can't be good for you.
Sometimes I like to sit down and have a nice 4 course meal in the sims instead of eating dinner
Hand out gaming-devices all over the world - World hunger solved.
oh wow so being occupied means you forget the urge to do other things? breakthrough, stop the presses
You're right. Why did they even bother with the study when they could've just asked you?

Because of CS i stopped eating between meals and started losing weight. :v:
not if my gamer fuel has anything to say about it
I wouldn't say they make you less hungry. I still get hungry as fuck, I just tend to put off eating until I'm not so wrapped up in my game.
