So there is this US gameshow called The Amazing Race where participants have to travel around the globe and do challenges to win some cash.
One of those challenges consists of going to South Korea trying to win one round in Street Fighter V against the south korean fgc.
I haven't watched TV in a while so im a little amazed at the editing, sound effects, and uh, scripted characters.
"freakin worked all this time to lose to a gamer"
"we worked so 'ard for this and it comes down to some teenage kid" and then proceeds to mock the 'kid' for not losing on purpose. Thats some fun scriptwriting right there.
On the subject of a blindfolded one handed guy with the best shit eating grin ever beating you in streetfighter, lol.
Amazing Race doesn't have any scripted dialogue.

The only scripted Dialogue Amazing Race has is the host saying something about the detour/roadblock/location/instructions etc.
Producers may have asked a leading question, but other than that the people say what they want.
For example: one team this season does weekly recaps and last week in their recap they said that they were asked about a mistake that another team did and their thoughts on it. Which was a major part of that week's episode, and the team that does the recap was there when the mistake was made. However, they didn't notice when the mistake was made.
So in the recap they said "one of the people wanted to know what I thought of the mistake made by team fun, but I had NO idea it happened so I was like "wait what?", so since they didn't see it and really couldn't say anything about it the producers really couldn't use their comments to put their aspect of the story in the show.
Survivor and The Amazing Race are the closest to real competition shows you can get on here.
Big Brother has more influence in it's game and they sometimes make the ppl say corny jokes, but nothing to really influence the game which could cause the show a lot of bad press.
Fuckin love Amazing Race
That kid is probably making 10x the amount that lady has every made in her life, no need to insult him.
It kind of makes me wonder how much they were holding back

Wait, I didn't hear her insult him. I heard a guy call him a "little teenage kid with an ego trip" but that's it.

That kid is Laugh, a Korean pro player. As far as I'm aware of he stopped playing competitively to instead run a PC Bang and eTokki, which is a store that sells the Omni arcade sticks they were using. So not only was that lady so bad she couldn't fucking realize all you need to do is hold back to block because Laugh was using two buttons, she was also losing against the most washed up of all pros on stage.
They're all lucky Infiltration wasn't playing because otherwise they wouldn't have made it out of there. It would have been hilarious to hear the dude cry and call a man who has a Wikipedia page, 4 EVO titles and a couple hundred thousand dollars in prize money a no-lifer, though.

They should have put them up against Mike Ross for pure comedic value.
Shame Gootecks wasn't there otherwise he would have created a time loop and kept them there forever
Did the host really call it a martial arts game? Couldn't just call it a fighting game?

I imagine that for a person who has no idea about video games, fighting game might sound too broad. A martial arts game, on the other hand, specifies that the characters are in a fist fight rather than using guns for example.
